Part of my advocacy and the support in HACE programs is showing up in our truth, our comfort and not being afraid to include our Latinidad. Yesterday’s introduction session with the Mujeres included solid discussion on fears of rejection or bias in the corporate environment. Do you remember when wearing red lipstick or hoop earrings would make the 10 o’clock news?📰 When we do not accept or embrace all of who we are, no matter our culture or background (Latina and non Latina alike) we cannot: 👉🏽 grow our confidence 👉🏻feel completely comfortable in business situations 👉🏿overcome fears of being labeled or judged 👉🏼open up to mentoring from others who are different from you 👉🏾experience working in your truth and bringing experience, expertise and creativity that stems from your culture or traditions As a middle aged woman who started a career showing up as a person that was “expected” in order to fit the mold, I realized the emotional and psychological impact that occurs when code switching. A decade ago I made a decision to show up in business exactly as Me. When you meet me in the grocery store or at a beach, it is the same Angel you will get in the boardroom. Believe it or not, that is when my career began to soar! It lifted fear and unwarranted shame for being a brown girl in a corporate world. Where we come from and what we look like does not negate our intelligence and capabilities. Who is holding space for you? Yesterday, I hosted the kick-off call for the I Belong Support Network. Thirteen brilliant Black women joined, excited and eager for the support they need as they transition to their next levels. In less than an hour, we uncovered a common thread among them: They love helping and supporting others. I bet that's you, too. I bet it brings you joy to guide someone through a situation. It's what Black women do! 🌟 The Journey Beyond Achievements: A Lesson in Self-Discovery There was a woman, one of the few black women in her town, determined to make her mark in the medical field. Degree after degree, position after position, she climbed the ladder of success. Celebrated by her family, she was a beacon of achievement, finally becoming a doctor, healing lives, and earning well. But when the milestones were reached and the applause faded, she faced a profound realization in the silence of her room. 🤔 What She Learned: 📍 She never truly discovered who she was beyond her professional identity. 📍 Happiness was always there, but she didn't know how to access it. 📍 The end of external validation made her inner voice louder and clearer. To my fellow box checkers, those who relentlessly pursue goals: ✅ Don't just accomplish tasks to prove your capability. ✅ Realize that you hold more power over your happiness than you think. ✅ Reclaim your strength and serenity by choosing your battles wisely and engaging in work that truly resonates with you. Kicking off Women's History month today has me reflecting on the many incredible women and allies who have paved the way for me, mentored me, and challenged me. I keep reading stories of women who 30 years into their career have directly reported to one, maybe two female bosses. In the last 10 years I have worked for 5 directly. FIVE. (more counting VPs and C-suite). I am taking the month of March to thank some of these incredible humans! Today I am starting with Bobbi Jo Price. BJP, thank you for your leadership and friendship. I could share a million reasons why working with you is a gift, but one specific scenario sticks out. As women in sales, we often feel like our environment pits us against each other, and only one person win. This came up as we were discussing how to navigate workplace changes, especially given 2 acquisitions and a merger. You quickly brought up its not an us versus them, or me against her. You made it your mantra that there is room for all of us at the table. And I have watched you live that out. Constantly lifting up and celebrating other women publicly. Not being afraid to share the spotlight. Intentionally mentoring and sharing learnings. In fact your example is one of the main reasons I knew I had found something special when I came across Women in Sales. Can we talk about the dreaded “I want a promotion” convo? The thought of this probably gives you anxiety. But no worries! If you’re a Black women, you can confidently walk into your supervisor’s office if you do these three things first: 💡 Document all your successes. Make it clear you’re not just participating, you’re leading. 💡 Wait for the right moment when the company’s doing well and when you know there’s some exciting projects coming up. 💡 Nail your pitch, know your worth, and speak with conviction. Look, at the end of the day, if you’ve showed up and showed out with excellence, then you’ve earned this moment. Are you eyeing a promotion this year? 

Happy International Women’s Day! Today, I want to shine a spotlight on Amy Travers, my incredible colleague, friend, and mentor. Her unwavering support and uplifting spirit have made a profound impact on my career. Here’s why Amy deserves all the applause: Promoter Extraordinaire: Amy doesn’t just celebrate her own victories; she’s the ultimate cheerleader for everyone around her. Whether it’s a small win or a major milestone, she’s waving pom-poms and shouting, “You did it!” Her enthusiasm is contagious. Guiding Light:  Everything I know and do well in my position, came from Amy. She patiently trained me, continues to explain concepts, share resources, and nudge me in the right direction. Encouragement Queen: Amy’s positivity is contagious. She sees potential even in my half-baked ideas. Her “Go for it!” attitude propels me forward. And when I succeed, she’s the first to raise a toast. So, here’s to Amy— a true star who helps everyone else shine brightly around her. #InternationalWomensDay
