Thank you Penny Sharpe - the Hunter has immense opportunities to showcase (and, importantly, deliver) innovation not only domestically, but globally.
Minister for Climate Change, Minister for Energy, Minister for the Environment and Minister for Heritage. Leader of the Government in the Upper House.
The Hunter Renewable Energy Transformation event was the perfect opportunity to share my excitement about what’s already happening in the region, and what lies ahead. The Hunter has just the right ingredients to become a global leader in the energy transformation. A community that understands industry and has worked closely with it for a very long time. A skilled workforce with transferable skills that can be used across the state. A history of working together at all levels – governments, businesses, unions and workers. A world class university and gold-standard skills training. And the willingness of the community, through a whole range of partnerships, to actually get it done. The future for local manufacturing really is bright -- just look at what's already happening at companies like Kardinia Energy, Energy Renaissance, SunDrive and MGA Thermal. Thanks for having me City of Newcastle, Australia – and thank you to the 100+ community members who joined us to discuss how the Hunter is grasping opportunities and working through the challenges as Labor's Energy Plan replaces ageing coal fired power plants with a sustainable energy future.
