Yesterday Build Club hosted an intimate firside chat with João Moura, the founder of CrewAI. AI Agents are one of the hottest topics in the startup landscape at the moment. Here are our top five takeaways 👇 1/ Open source, customer focused product and community has been the secret sauce so far 2/ Agents using fine-tuned models is an exciting opportunity area which is unscratched at the moment... 3/ The best crews built so far are made by people who are good managers and domain experts, similar to a way a manager would train a junior for a task 4/When selling AI Agents to enterprise, focus on ROI and defined use cases = 👑 5/ Eat your own dog food. CrewAI is built with ratio 2:1 for agent: human FTEs. This forces product utility from day zero Thank you so much to Tim Morris for moderating this one! cc. Many of the AI founders I've talked to this year that raised fantastic initial funding rounds are having trouble raising their next rounds. In this week's nerd processor, I wrote about why (and what else AI founders are experiencing). Getting to sustainable revenue in AI is hard because 1) AI has already become commoditized, 2) Incumbent big companies have more advantages than usual, and 3) At least in B2B, most potential customers haven't figured out how to reliably vet and buy AI tools yet.
