Construction noise spooks trained military horses in London Recent events in London have highlighted the urgent need for innovative solutions to manage construction noise. Five trained military horses of the Household Cavalry were spooked by loud noises at a construction site during a rehearsal, leading to a chaotic situation where the horses, along with some soldiers and a cyclist, sustained injuries. See BBC article at https://lnkd.in/gPmHvmTc. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the immediate and disruptive impact of construction noise, not just on daily operations but also on the well-being of both humans and animals. At Noizend, we are dedicated to tackling this issue head-on using advanced manufacturing and materials technologies. Our development of the Noizend Shield aims to offer a portable, flexible solution to effectively reduce low-frequency noise from various industrial applications, including construction. As urban environments grow, the challenge of managing noise pollution becomes more significant. The long-term health effects of continuous noise exposure are well-documented, aligning with concerns raised by international bodies like the United Nations and the World Health Organization. We invite you to join us in our mission to enhance urban living conditions through advanced noise reduction technologies. For more information on how we can assist your projects, please get in touch with us at [email protected] #Noizend #NoisePollution #UrbanDevelopment #Innovation #Sustainability

Wishing everyone a great holiday season and a happy new year. I am seeing all the 2024 AI predictions hitting the wire already. Here's some from GPT-4! --- Let’s dive into some intriguing predictions for the year 2024 in the realm of artificial intelligence: GenAI and Cybersecurity: IBM predicts that gen AI (a term referring to the next generation of AI) will become the new DNA of cyberattacks. Attackers will increasingly compromise networks using counterfeit and stolen privileged access credentials1. As AI evolves, so do the methods of deception and identity abuse. OpenAI’s Transformation: OpenAI, after its transformative year in 2023, will shift its focus. Expect it to embrace a more aggressive “ship it” mindset. The GPT store, akin to an “app store for AI,” will be a prominent platform for acquiring AI tools and models. OpenAI aims to follow Apple’s successful model. Agents: Niche applications of AI models, including agent-based models, will grow beyond their current status. These models will interact with spreadsheets, ticketing systems, and transportation apps. Generative Multimedia: Generative multimedia (such as AI-generated video and music) will find niches where their limitations are less visible. Skilled creators will leverage these tools for fun and interesting applications. Monolithic LLMs and Their Limits: Large language models (LLMs) have exceeded expectations, but 2024 will reveal their limitations. Research at the frontiers of this field will shed light on where these models hit their boundaries2. Generative AI in Consumers’ Lives: According to Forrester, generative AI will seep into consumers’ lives. Skeptics will increasingly use and appreciate generative AI, even if they don’t realize it. AI will spur creativity and boost productivity in enterprises by 50%. Democratization and Personalization: AI democratization will continue, making AI accessible to more people. Personalization at scale will become a key focus, tailoring AI solutions to individual needs. Digital Humans: Digital humans (AI avatars) and digital twinning (virtual replicas of real-world objects) will gain prominence. Ethics: Ethical considerations and regulations around AI will be hot topics. Remember, these predictions are based on current trends and research, and the actual future may hold even more surprises. Exciting times lie ahead as AI continues to shape our world! 🌟🤖 --- #GenAI #2024predictions #gpt4

A Special Message on this July 4th from AHC President, Julie Broadway: Birthdays, after a certain age, are less about the cake and candles and more about assessment and reflection. Accomplishments and disappointments are examined, hopefully pointing a path forward toward more of the former and less of the latter. You might find this a rather somber open to an essay on the occasion of our common birthday – Independence Day. Be assured there is much to celebrate. There will be parades all across the nation. In many instances, the celebrations will be led and attended by a faithful, brave, and spirited four-legged partner: the horse. It is on this point that we would like to reflect upon this year. Over the course of 248 birthdays, from George Washington’s horse Nelson riding fearlessly into Revolutionary war battles to providing honors to the fallen at Arlington Cemetery, horses have been woven into this country’s history. Horses have tilled our land for food and provided transport from everything from postal services to operational partners in times of war. As the nation evolved so did the role of the horse. The transition from physical labor — using horsepower to leisure activities — marked a significant shift in our relationship with these magnificent creatures. Consequently, the discussion around them has shifted from what horses need to do to support the rider or the spectator to what we need to do to support the horse.
