Great work, Meijer! Also a good reminder that July is Disability Pride Month, which commemorates the July 1990 passage of the ADA and recognizes the achievements of the disability community, as well as their history, lived experiences, and struggles. 1 in 4 Americans live with some kind of disability. As a mom I am striving to raise a child that will embrace and not fear differences he encounters in others - including peers with disabilities. Here's a good article with age-appropriate tips for talking to young children about disabilities (including why it's appropriate to use the term disabled). https://lnkd.in/e-MW435E

July is Disability Pride Month! Having a disability, whether visible or not, does not mean you have less to offer. For many disabled people, however, it does mean having to fight harder for the same opportunities as your non-disabled friends or colleagues. This is a month to celebrate disabilities in all their colours to encourage positive change and conversation all year round. Check out the below article from AccessAble for 6 ways in which you can make a difference: https://lnkd.in/eaWrGVwX 'There's no doubt that 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐝 to implement further equality legislation, tackle discrimination, narrow the employment gap and improve accessibility on a global scale. Everyone should have the right to earn, learn, be cared for and feel included and represented.' #DisabilityPrideMonth #DEI #DisabilityAwareness #DiversityAndInclusion
