Democracy, for a person with a disability, should mean equal opportunity, inclusion, and accessibility in all aspects of civic life. It involves having the ability to participate fully in the political process, express their opinions, and access resources and services without discrimination. Additionally, it should ensure that policies and decisions consider the unique needs and perspectives of individuals with disabilities, promoting a more just and inclusive society. 🕊️ On Human Rights Day, let's champion Freedom, Equality, and Justice for All. 🌍 Reflecting on vulnerability, let's recognise some here: 1. **Refugees:** Facing displacement and persecution, often deprived of basic rights. 2. **Children:** Vulnerable to exploitation, violence, and limited access to education. 3. **LGBTIQA+:** Including trans and gender-diverse individuals facing discrimination and marginalisation. 4. **Indigenous Peoples:** Facing historical injustices, land dispossession, and cultural marginalisation. 5. **Persons with Disabilities:** Battling discrimination and barriers to accessibility. 6. **Elderly Population:** Often facing neglect, abuse, and limited resources for well-being. 7. **Individuals with Mental Health Challenges:** Battling stigma, limited access to care, and discrimination. 8. **Those Affected by Substance Abuse:** Confronting stigma, limited support, and barriers to recovery. 9. **Suicide Prevention Advocates:** Striving to break the silence and promote mental well-being. 10. **Sex Workers:** Navigating legal and social challenges, facing stigma, violence and self advocating for their rights. 🌈 In honoring those who face heightened challenges, I dedicated my morning drawing to the resilience of "those ladies of the night," acknowledging their strength and calling for compassion and understanding. 👊 Together, let's work towards a world where every individual's rights are protected and celebrated. #HumanRightsForAll ✊ #HumanRightsday

I am encouraged to see a ballot option that values education, listening to others, appreciating differences, uniting communities, and protecting reproductive rights, health care affordability, and universal background checks. It's essential to support free school meals, student safety, bodily autonomy, and non-discrimination in all things, including based on who you love. Kindness and understanding should prevail in our world. Embracing #diversity, promoting listening, and fostering curiosity about each other should be our "norm" (and happens to be part of VISIONS, Inc's vision). Belief in equality is fundamental. These days are all about commemorations and celebrations. December 3rd marked the International Day of People with Disabilities #IDPD as proclaimed by the United Nations in 1992. December 6 is the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women. The 75th anniversary of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights #UDHR is coming up on December 10th. We have advanced many rights for humanity in principle. However, the reality looks very different. There is so much work to do still.
