A week in Corfu Moments from this past week during my Traveling Through Watercolor: Corfu workshop. It was a wonderful group and we painted all through the days, exploring the the seascapes, gardens and old, winding streets of Corfu, steeped in culture and history. A huge thanks to all the participants who captured the island beautifully in watercolor. It was a fantastic group, and we enjoyed spending time together in class, on excursions and of course over delicious Greek meals. As always the departures were a bit sad but there’s a feeling that it wasn’t goodbye, just until the next time! #artworkshop #paintingworkshop #greeceworkshop #artworkshopGreece #watercolorworkshop #greeceworkshop #watercolorlandscape #greeklandscape #corfu #kerkyra #junpierreartworkshops #travelingwithwatercolor #watercolorsketching

ERV had the great pleasure of hosting Jun-Pierre Shiozawa, a renowned Japanese-American watercolour artist based in Nice, France. He ran an inspiring painting workshop for our Year 10, 11, 12, and 13 Art students. Exploring the use of Chinese ink and watercolours, our students delved into new techniques and gained valuable insights from the guest artist. Thank you to the American Embassy for supporting this event for our students. #ERV #IntlSchool #Gabon #Libreville #Education #EarlyED #PYP #IBDP

This week I’m thrilled to be a going to Gabon as a US cultural envoy. I’ll be working with Gabonese artists, visiting schools and meeting students. The program includes painting workshops and a presentation of works by workshop participants. Here is an image that I made inspired by the theme of the week, “The Wonders Around Us.” I look forward to sharing my experiences of exploration and exchange in the week to come! #artsenvoy #exchangeourworld #culturaldiplomacy #culturalexchange #gabon #thewondersaroundus #artsenvoyprogram

My upcoming Traveling through Watercolor: Tuscany Workshop has just been reduced by more than 25% ! On top of that, the Early Bird Special discount has been extended to September 15. This workshop is something I am very excited about, based in the beautiful Agriturismo La Ca' Solare situated in foothills between Sam Gimignano and Pisa. The course will run from October 23 - 28, 2023 and will focus on watercolor painting in the landscape. As it will be a small group, all levels are welcome and there will be an emphasis on individualized instruction. All the meals are included in the workshop and will feature traditional Tuscan specialties made from local, farm raised ingredients. For more information visit:

Here's a new post on Jun-Pierre Art Notes on the improvisational act of sketching: "Sketches tend to stay in that raw state of activity in capturing a moment and when the moment is over, so is the sketch. I have sketchbooks filled with drawings where I sat somewhere, did my sketch, moved on and never returned to it again. That can be part of the beauty and power of a sketch, how direct and evocative they are in linking the artist to their subject at a given place in time. We feel as if we are viewing through the eyes of artists when we see such depictions of the life around them. Yet, what if I could return to a sketch and use it as well as my own experience and memory as my sole references? Could I proceed and continue the improvisation as one might when they first hear the opening chords to jam upon or the starting lines of a joke to riff off of ?" https://lnkd.in/eNerkg2W
