Gold for free... SMEs, you can do something big players can't and won't. Get senior leaders to talk to customers and not just as a PR or box ticking exercise. Get in touch with your top 10% customers, patients, clients, members. Like pick up the phone or get on a Zoom call 1-1, heart to heart, face to face chat about what you're struggling with or what you aspire to achieve. They are going to appreciate it and you'll probably end up increasing their lifetime value and gain some referrals. Your business will certainly be top of mind. Ask them 3 simple questions but game changing questions: What should we continue doing? Why? What should we stop doing? Why? What should we start doing? Why? You'll get gold for free. You may just uncover a business or few from within your business catering to untapped demand and / or markets. It might be a 10min call or 2hr call. Remember, this is your top 10% client. Set an expectation with your clients as part of onboarding that you will get in touch once a month with the objective of improving your service offerings to support their goals for optimal life and work. It beats the standard follow up calls asking if the client is ready to buy or a new demo / sample, etc, free report, etc. People don't care how much you know until they know how much you care. Ask the 3 questions.

Let’s get down to business. Sometimes, as small business owners, we don't pay enough attention to the little ways we can do to make things better. But those little changes can make a big difference in our lives and our business. By making measurable improvements, we can find new ways to do things and make sure we're ready for anything that might go wrong. And when we make those small changes, they can help us grow. If there is one thing that I would share with small business owners is: Yes, having a business mindset entails understanding your market, satisfying consumers, and maximizing profits…but this is a daunting task if you neglect your data. Take time to really understand all the information about your business. For example, how many people are buying? What product do they like best? Don’t get caught up in what you can do later - there is a lot you can do right now.
