Deloitte Legal in Spain has advised Grupo Hotelero Gargallo on the purchase of the Casa Lit hotel in Barcelona from the joint venture created by Stoneweg and Bain Capital. The transaction involved teams from legal, tax, labor, and transactions areas, according to Deloitte. Cuatrecasas has acted as the legal advisor for Stoneweg Hospitality and Bain Capital. The operation was led by the real estate M&A team, including partner Agustín del Río Galeote (pictured left), senior associate Miquel Castro Nabau, and associate Tamara Gutiérrez. The tax team included partner Xavier Betran (pictured right) and associate Claudia Monroy Cea. Yesterday we hosted an Intimate Club Dinner in New York with some of our key clients in NYC and people from some of the most innovative corporations globally to discuss about innovation, corporate venturing and corporate development. Highlights: - 2023 was slower than usual given the downturn and the uncertainty. 2024 seems to be a year with increasing activity although people do not expect to go back to the old levels - External innovation (via partnership, investment or acquisition) remains to be a key strong channel to keep up with what is happening in the market, explore new spaces (adjacent and non-adjacent) and even to strengthen the core business - Alignment with and involvement with the business units when doing external innovation is one of the critical success factors Do you agree with those?
