A machine for the ages - the McLaren F1! When we talk about Legendary cars throughout history, you can't leave out Gordon Murray's F1 on that list. It is widely regarded as one of the greatest cars ever built, if not the greatest. A top speed record-setting supercar that set the benchmark in the 90s. Even today, the F1 holds the production car top speed record for a Naturally Aspirated car. No small feat. And each example commands its individual respect, not only with enthusiasts, but also on the market. Enter Chassis 029. Finished in Creighton Brown (the only one with this finish), with a Tan/Black Leather interior. The color Creighton Brown is named after former McLaren shareholder & director, Mr. Creighton Brown. It is still in as-delivered condition as well, making it near Museum quality. Chassis 029 sold in 2021 at auction in Monterey for $20.47 million. Making it the most valuable F1 ever auctioned off. With only 243 miles on the odometer at the time of that auction, it is also believed to be the lowest mileage example in existence. With the market continuing to rise on the F1, every year raises the value of these iconic machines further. With an example like Chassis 029 being one of the finest examples of them all. It is now heading to auction again through RMSothebys. All indications point at a final hammer of over $20 million again. The question is, how high will it go? It was after all the fastest production car in the world for almost two years before McLaren F1 detroned it. These two cars are the last remaining supercar bargains on the planet, but round-belly Countaches are going up fast, with prices approaching €1M. Those are the technical specs of the new Red Bull RB17 Hypercar unveiled at the Goodwood Festival of Speed yesterday. Still not impressed? What if I told you that the car has a downforce to drag ratio that makes it more like an aircraft than a car. That means it is capable of speeds in corners previously unheard of. If that doesn’t impress you, let me take it a step further. That means that the RB17 is roughly one second FASTER than a Formula 1 car. In simulation testing, the car went around Silverstone nearly 1 second faster than George Russell’s pole sitting time of 1:25.819. It’s truly an incredible showcase of what Formula 1 teams would be capable of without the technical restraints within the race series itself. Not only that, but from a marketing perspective the car is brilliant. The launch of the car has not only created a lot of buzz, but for the 50 lucky people that have $6.4 million, they won’t just get a car. They get a lifestyle.
