The process is pretty simple- There are three ways to get into it- 1) Go offsite directly and approach. 2) Go to LinkedIn and search for recruiters. 3) Go to their career pages. Week 9 at Netflix 🌟 At the beginning of my internship, my manager was on vacation. She sent me a welcoming email, hoping my journey would be “Challenging and Rewarding.” Fast forward to now, and wow, she was spot on! 🌍 I've had the incredible opportunity to work with partners from territories like Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Germany, Italy, the Nordics, Benelux, Colombia, France, and Spain. Working with such a diverse, global team has stretched my workday across different time zones. 💼 Project Focus: My main project has been to create a tool to make it easier and faster to pay dubbing actors worldwide. Tackling these bottlenecks and optimizing the workflow has been tough but seeing the positive results has been incredibly satisfying. 🔍 Data Discovery: Playing with data is something I love, but Netflix brought a unique challenge. I encountered a time format labeled as hh:mm:ss:xx. At first, I thought "xx" meant milliseconds, which was confusing. After lots of tries and conversations, I realized "xx" actually means frames per second (fps). This small detail turned into a huge learning experience for me! So yes—just as my manager hoped, this internship has been both challenging and deeply rewarding. What about you? What have been your most significant learnings from your internships? It’s officially been over SIX months since starting my internship at Walt Disney Imagineering, Disney Live Entertainment. 🥳 Here are six things that I have learned so far: 📖 Storytelling is a number one priority, especially the unique way that Disney tells stories. I have learned a lot about pitching decks, brainstorming, and overall storytelling! 🤝 It may be a bit stereotypical, but it’s all about who you know and putting yourself out there. I have had 100+ meet and greets over the course of my internship so far to expand my network. 💡 Being strategic does not always mean you are not being authentic. In my opinion, being mindful of your interactions and relationships is important for any career and relationship. 📝 Sometimes, saying less is saying more. I was so excited to contribute at first that I tried to talk at every chance I had. I learned that taking a step back and thinking through my words and speaking at key moments has improved my work. 🧑💻 You have to be willing to put the work in, maybe even for less pay and better opportunities. I took a ~$3.50/hr pay cut (that’s $10-12k/yr+ salary.!) for this internship because I knew interning at The Walt Disney Company this early in my career will forever help me in the future. So far, I have had so many priceless experiences. 🌟 Right now, the job market is even tougher than before. The reality is, there are tons of extremely qualified people for each role. Focusing on what makes you unique and what value you bring to the table will ultimately help you land your next opportunity, which happened to me. For me, there are two key factors for those seeking to start and build media careers: - Your drive, dedication, and desire.  - Understanding the complex social and professional code of the entertainment industry and learning how to navigate it. Obviously, ability remains critical. But that to me matters less than the other two factors. Learning how the industry works takes drive, dedication, and desire! I’ve recently began posting on this, and I’ve been amazed at the response. But then I realized that the media industry really is complicated, and people may need a little help understanding it. There is a certain language and cadence to industry culture, and I’d suggest you learn it as soon as possible. You also need to find what works for you. Can you learn this? Absolutely!
