100%. Here are five reasons why musicians make excellent employees and why an early introduction to music is so important for our youth: 1.) Tenacity and work ethic: Musicians dedicate countless hours to mastering their craft. They understand the value of practice, perseverance, and continuous improvement. This translates to a strong work ethic and dedicated approach to any task they undertake. Their commitment to long-term improvement shines through in their efforts and results. 2.) Teamwork and collaboration: Playing music rarely happens in solo. Musicians learn to collaborate effectively, listen to each other, and contribute their individual skills to create a harmonious collective result. This translates well to teamwork in any setting, where they can readily cooperate with colleagues, support each other, and build productive working relationships. 3.) Creativity and problem-solving: Music itself is an act of creative expression and problem-solving. Musicians face challenges like interpreting sheet music, adapting to unexpected changes, and finding unique ways to express themselves through their instruments or voices. This experience translates to strong creative thinking skills and the ability to tackle problems with new perspectives and find innovative solutions. 4.) Discipline and time management: Mastering an instrument requires strict discipline and excellent time management skills. Musicians juggle practice sessions, rehearsals, performances, and often other commitments. This honed ability to stay organized, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines makes them dependable employees who can handle busy workloads and manage their time effectively. 5.) Adaptability and resilience: The life of a musician can be unpredictable, requiring adaptability and resilience. They encounter unexpected changes in schedules, rejection, and challenges on the path to success. This experience builds their flexibility, ability to cope with change, and bounce back from setbacks, making them valuable assets in dynamic work environments. These are all reasons why we at Sound Futures care so much about investing in the future of our youth.
Yes. Yes they are. Proud to lead the MusicFirst team - all of whom are musicians.

In honor of the New Year, and for all those directors that are getting their 3 charts ready for "jazz season"....... there are still states that require you to sight read at the festival..... Maine used to be one of them........ Here is a free jazz sight reading. A very cool progression, im7 to biiim7. If you were playing the dorian mode with this progression in Cm....... It would be ascending on the Cm7....C D Eb F G A Bb C now up to Db and coming down on the Ebm7 ..Db C Bb Ab Gb F Eb Db and now you're back to the C that you started on. Now can you do it off of the -3, or the 5, or the -7, or the 9 or the 11th or even the 13? How about descending then ascending? Let me give you down from the 11th. descending F Eb D C Bb A G F now ascending Eb F Gb Ab Bb C Db Eb and on fo F where you started. So what I just played was descending 4 (11)-3 2 1 -7 6 5 4 off of the im7 and then ascending 1 2 -3 4 5 -6 -7 1 off of the biiim7 Folks you NEED to be able to play any scale or mode starting on every chord tone in either direction, PERIOD. That's why my LINEAR TRANSITIONS and LINEAR TRANSITIONS II are so important. Covers all of this with every key covered on every page. Contact me..... I don't have many left. Very few, actually. Find the sight-reading at https://lnkd.in/e_JKaRXS
