We like to talk, to tell, to engage. And at the Fig Bar-just where 10 years ago the first dreams and mechanisms of our startup materialized-we met old and new HR connections.
🍝 Amatriciana is a must, and it's always great, but we needed ... unconventional, so the dinner turned into the smiles of those who had their portraits taken by Eli, a very good illustrator, into those who raised their glasses to toasts, into the widespread cheerfulness of a nice “Taboo” HR version, and into a new experience, both for them and for us.
It was special: we write this from the train taking us back to Milan, knowing that when we want it again all we have to do is simply take the backward route.
Very exciting for anyone who lives and breathes lean, six sigma or good engineering practice
I firmly believe the future of work is remote - it wasn’t just a covid fad, but a move to more efficient ways of working
I believe this is also true for hardware problems. Evidence of this starting to work is in “DePIN” - decentralised physical infrastructure.

It was a big deal for me to decide to take the opportunity to be Chief of Staff at Verdane Elevate for a number of reasons;
1. I have never been a 'Chief of Staff' before, do I want to be completely out of my comfort zone and feel like a rookie again? Especially when I have forged a career as an expert within HR for PE/VC backed tech business?
2. The role has never existed before in Verdane or Elevate so expectations are high!
3. I have worked as an advisor/consultant for the majority of my career and would be walking away from great flexibility
But despite all of the above, I took the role.
I recently had the pleasure of hearing a presentation from Michael Kim (HR leader Spotify) at the Verdane HR Community day and he talked about career paths being like a theme park (not just a linear trajectory) and suddenly my career choice made sense.
A successful career is not always about becoming more and more experienced within a specific field. It's about doing something in the everyday that you are passionate, inspired and motivated by. The challenge, learning opportunity and empowerment to learn something completely new without the fear of failure.
It's rare to find businesses that think about employee mobility in this way, but in my mind, it should be embraced to encourage employee engagement, innovation and business impact.
I still use my knowledge and experience within HR in my current role (soft skills are transferable to practically any role). The excitement of not really knowing what the day will bring Ellen Marie Nyhus, thinking about new ways of doing things to improve efficiency and be more impactful Bjarne Kveim Lie and generally working within an overarching philosophy of sustainability and doing good for the planet is a great mission to be a part of Verdane.

Don't get me wrong, the role has its challenges at times, but if you don't try you will never know what you are capable of. This is true of not just career changes but also your passions and that project that you have had on the back burner for a while.

Leslea Petersen, CEO of English Job Denmark, was one of the first attendees. She observes that internationals are often tripped up by the “unwritten rules” of job-searching in Denmark.
“It can be a big shift to accommodate a ‘Danish’ approach to job seeking versus what they are used to in their home country,” she says, and adds that improved visibility for career-advice services catered to internationals is a must".
