Steeping the Leaves To steep: Soaking an organic solid (leaves) in a liquid (water) to extract flavor Did you ever hear the tale of the carrot, the egg and the tea? What happens when they boil? It is supposed show how you react to pressure…Do you bend like the carrot, become hard like the egg or release your goodness into the world, like the tea? First, no brainer…chai every time. And…it got me to thinking about tea and the process of steeping the leaves, which is one of my most favorite daily activities. So, when you steep tea leaves… You have to slow down! You can rush or cheat it, but then you get none of the flavor…and in life, none of the benefit or value. You extract such goodness from those leaves. In other words, you get the best out of leaves (people) by adding just a bit of heat (pressure), and develop this amazing elixir (tea) from something that you wouldn’t expect. The tea leaves (you) give themselves unconditionally to someone or something else without anything in return. Now that is truly an altruistic tea leaf! You get out what you put in…If you’re in a rush and steep tea for 30 seconds, guess what, your tea is gonna taste like you spent 30 seconds on it. However, if you have time, and instead leave it sit for 5 minutes, you are going to get the most unreal beauty you have ever seen and tasted. The trick is, to find the time to steep the leaves. We don’t always have time, yet we need to create it! For us, for you, your kids, your partner. What is taking your time? Is it more important than the tea??? Every cup is different…and we have the ability to learn and grow with each cup. Is it too bitter? Not sweet enough? Too strong? Nothing in your cup is permanent. We have the ability to change every time, with every cup! How cool is that!?! Stay thirsty my friends.
