Unfortunately, it is a reality that a large number of professional athletes in every corner of the world, unfortunately, live.❗ Bread and games - for the Big Bosses.❗ I use my voice, however small it may be, to encourage others to use their. 📢 To say NO to exploitation and manipulation at the workplace, because your workplace is the arena, but the tool of work isn't just a ball, it's also your body, your physical and mental health! ❗ To say NO to Hunger Games and working without pay. ❗ To say NO to all pro forma contracts. ❗ To say NO to giving their sweat for the annual vacations, houses, and pockets of the Big Bosses instead of for the well-being of themselves, their families, and progress in what they are best at.❗ It's time for new generations of #professionalathletes to have a system that works and that protects them, and not for France (and possibly Germany) to be the only countries in the EU that protect the sports industry and professional athletes. ❗ For 15+ years I've been watching all these giants of people and WARRIORS 🤾♂️ around the world who don't have a VOICE to get what should belong to them by the LAW of each country - the right to adequate treatment for injuries sustained while on the job, and the salary they've earned - through daily training, sacrifices of all kinds, play, leaving their own countries, discipline, blood, sweat, and results. ❗ The system doesn't work❗ Over but not out. 🌹 https://lnkd.in/dzKDu9cy

I love this story! Congratulations to Jenny Nguyen for forging her own path! Her story of her parents wanting her to do something else and judging her dreams is so common. So many times, parents push their own dreams on their children even if they are adults and it's all driven by their own insecurities and judgement like in Jenny's story. I remember when I first made the decision to become an entrepreneur ten years ago, although I was an adult my mom didn't understand it and her anxiety and fear over my decision drove most of our conversations. Now she continues to tell me how proud she is of me and is my biggest fan. As a coach, much of my practice focuses on career transitions and I hear these stories often. Currently, I am working with a client who is facing many challenges navigating the wishes of their father. My recommendation to everyone is to follow your heart and forge your own path towards purpose and fulfillment just like Jenny has. The worst season of my career, from a mental perspective. At this point, I didn’t have the tools necessary to leave my hockey life, at the rink. I’d come home to my then wife and two kids, and I’d be bitter. Angry. Tense. I wasn’t out of control, but I was also not the same bubbly person that my family was accustomed to. I was in a new country, with teammates that hated each other and the environment in the locker room was consuming in a very bad way. What I’ve learned is so many players share the same feelings. When things in their hockey career aren’t going well, a lot of them get home and project their pain and frustration onto those closest to them. How can we avoid this, so our kids and wives don’t carry a burden that isn’t theirs to carry. That is part of my work now, is helping players to gain clarity in their personal life. I provide tools that are easy to apply so they can detach when they get home and therefore be more present for what really matters. Hockey won’t last forever, but you will be a father from the time they are born, until you pass or they do. Our kids want the deepest and best relationship with us and more athletes need tools to separate life in the sport, with life outside. Sending all fathers and mothers that are athletes so much strength and ability to detach. Our family needs us present with them.
