Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson’s Post

Our JMT staff proudly celebrated the fourth award for the Central Avenue Streetscape and Harbor Point Connector Bridge at the American Society of Civil Engineers Maryland Section member appreciation and awards event on June 13. This Baltimore project was honored as ASCE-MD's Outstanding Civil Engineering Achievement over $20 million. JMT served as the lead engineer for the City of Baltimore’s first design-build project, encompassing eight blocks of streetscape improvements along Central Avenue and a new bridge extending the street across part of the Inner Harbor to Harbor Point. The streetscape project revitalized Central Avenue, transforming it from an outdated industrial corridor into a dynamic, multimodal complete street. JMT spearheaded the engineering and design services, managed permitting activities, and ensured design quality control and assurance, with Allan Myers serving as the contractor. The Central Avenue project previously received an Award of Excellence over $5 million at the annual Maryland Quality Initiative (MdQI) event in February, the Excellence in Construction award at the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Chesapeake Shores event in 2023, and the Outstanding New Short Span Bridge award from the Association for Bridge Construction & Design (ABCD) - Susquehanna Chapter in 2019. Congratulations to all who contributed toward this multiple award-winning project! #MeetJMT #ProjectAward #AECIndustry #Engineering #BridgeDesign
