I spent 31 years in healthcare, and if any status is over abused it is STAT. What then were are one time priority situations become common place. No different outside of healthcare, especially in transitioning. If you wait until the last 6 months to figure out your path, you will have a number of STAT requests. Nail down that transition career early 1.5-2 years and start learning the metrics, KPI's and keywords. If you are hastily contacting people needing an informational interview this week, it may be too big of an ask.

Piss poor planning on YOUR part Does NOT constitute an emergency on MY part.
Have you heard this saying before?
If you are in the military or are a veteran, I know you have.
Simply put, plan things out and realize that everyone has things going on in their lives. Do not think that the world revolves around you and your needs.
Ask yourself what do I need to do, what information/resources do I need, what is the timeline to get it done, who do I need to collaborate with, and how can I do this in a manner to achieve the success required.
Whether it is for work or your personal life, give others the consideration you would want. Do not be the person who always has a last-minute need/task for others to jump through hoops for.
Make a plan and execute the plan. Think ahead and do not be that person.

Today marks 1 year since I separated from Active Duty and began my second career in Aerospace and Defense. Reflecting on this journey, I realize how much can change in a year. Here are some key accomplishments that I reflected on:
✅ Hired into Aerospace and Defense (My #1 choice of field!)
✅ Became a Subcontract Program Manager
✅ Purchased our Dream Home
✅ Progressed in school with 2 classes completed and in the 3rd and 4th.
✅ Selected as a Group TMC (Career Advisor) at Peterson SFB
✅ Promoted to Master Sergeant in the AF Reserves (MSgt/E-7)
✅ Became a Program Manager (One of my 3 year goals!)
✅ Achieved PMP Certification from PMI
✅ Enrolled in Senior Non-Commissioned Officer Academy (SNCOA)
These highlights showcase the importance of taking a leap of faith and leveraging past successes. Skills and habits cultivated in prior roles remain valuable while adapting and applying them to new challenges is key. Building that network of people to learn from, mentor, and guide you is equally important.
Ultimately, turning the page into the next chapter will always be a daunting task, but know if you continue to work hard and persevere; that next chapter might be your best one yet.
Don't start tomorrow. Start TODAY. 1 year can fly by in a blink of an eye.
Cheers to the journey ahead!

Problem solving and it's three factors are vital requirements to operate efficiently and effectively in military aviation engineering. The Murphy Solution crisis management course reinforced the skills required to solutionise simple, complicated and complex issues if and when they arise.
The Simple, Complicated and Complex problems are issues I've experienced on multiple military deployments across a 22 year career in military aviation. Working in diverse groups with excellent communication skills allows for effective solutions to any level of problems to meet rapid political and governmental demands.
Completing the course confirms these issues affect all businesses in some capacity. businesses that can adapt and react to issues will thrive.
My key takeaway from crisis management is that it's not just a skill it's an advantage for all leadership.
