The Freedom Point: When the sale of your business would generate enough cash to do whatever, whenever.
The business owners who inspire me are the ones who want to:
Do the next thing:
Either launch Business 2, which will grow bigger, better, and faster because of their experience with Business 1
Or start a private equity firm or family office that starts, buys, and builds multiple businesses.
AND spend lots of Free Days with their families.
Possibly on the pictured beach.

You've got ideas! But are they all needle-movers?
As a Dreamer, Visionary, or High QuickStart, it's easy to get caught up in new ideas.
They’re exciting.
They’re shiny.
And they sure seem more enticing than sticking to the routine.
But not all ideas are great.
And, in the same vein, not all ideas are bad.
Some ideas are worth pursuing.
Others are best left in your daydreams.
But how do you know which is which?
That's why we created the Idea Filter™—a simple tool for you and your Executive Virtual Assistant to use to take just 5 minutes to evaluate the idea before taking action or bringing it to the rest of the team.
If you’d like a copy, leave a comment or send me a message, and I’ll send it your way.
We saw the same band five years before we met, an ocean apart from each other.
#weeklylunchwithwife found us driving to St. Louis to see the pioneering Christian rock band Petra, who have been performing since 1972.
In 1990, Jami saw them in Milford, Nebraska.
I saw them five months later in Kaiserslautern, Germany.
Scheduling weekly lunches with your spouse, as we do, isn't about the lunches. Or the occasional concert subbed in.
It's about fighting the whirlwind of seemingly important things that surrounds us, drawing a line around our marriage, and declaring "This far, and no farther."
Or to put it another way—for the Petra fans—This Means War.

"Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom." Psalm 90:12
Someone at the pool wore that Bible verse on her shirt, and I'm grateful.
It was our family's last day for the season at our beloved neighborhood pool.
As I tossed my son through the air "one more time, Dad," I thought about how next time I do this, he's going to be a year older and seven pounds heavier.
Later at home, feeling a litlle melancholy, I took comfort in Bifrost Arts' song "Wisdom and Grace," specifically the last verse and chorus:
Let the work of our hands bring you praise,
set Your favor upon us.
O establish the work of our hands,
May Your kingdom come!
Teach us to number our days
That we may apply our hearts to Your ways
O! Teach us to number our days
with wisdom and grace, wisdom and grace.
Wisdom and grace, wisdom and grace

Being real matters for business leaders. Do you agree? Sound off in a survey below and help my client Melissa Hurrington's research efforts about authenticity in leadership.
Don't let The Velveteen Rabbit sway your opinion, though ...
“Real isn't how you are made,' said the Skin Horse. 'It's a thing that happens to you. When a child loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with, but REALLY loves you, then you become Real.'
'Does it hurt?' asked the Rabbit.
'Sometimes,' said the Skin Horse, for he was always truthful. 'When you are Real you don't mind being hurt.'
'Does it happen all at once, like being wound up,' he asked, 'or bit by bit?'
'It doesn't happen all at once,' said the Skin Horse. 'You become. It takes a long time. That's why it doesn't happen often to people who break easily, or have sharp edges, or who have to be carefully kept. Generally, by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get loose in the joints and very shabby. But these things don't matter at all, because once you are Real you can't be ugly, except to people who don't understand.”

Who's hiring in Recruiting/HR, Defense Contracting with Air Defense Artillery, or entry-level cyber security?
Army veteran Robert Bridger is #openforwork. I'm endorsing him because Nick Tarlowski endorsed him—Nick knows quality people when he sees them.
"I have 8 years of experience with the THAAD system, including time served in Israel as a Liaison with 12th MDB. In addition, I have spent my last 4 years serving as a Talent Acquisition Specialist for the US Army Recruiting Command. I have an active Secret Security Clearance and CompTIA Security+ Certification."—From one of Robert's posts

Otherwise you're in a silo. And those are just dang hot this time of year, and claustrophobic any time of the year.
