As part of a free trade agreement between New Zealand and the European Union, most New Zealand goods exported to the EU have had their tariffs – a tax paid at the border – removed entirely. If you already export to the EU, this will reduce your costs of doing business in the EU market. The aim of the free trade agreement is to create opportunities for all New Zealand businesses, no matter how small, to grow and invest, build connections in EU markets and diversify. The Central Asian countries are located between China and the European Union. This makes them crucial for trade and transport. Geopolitical changes, particularly in the Red Sea region, have further highlighted the importance of these routes. Both the EU and China are important trading partners for Central Asia, making the region significant in terms of economic and trade relations. This increased importance is reflected in the growing development of transport corridors and strengthened economic ties between Central Asia, China and the EU. Given the level of relations of the Central Asian countries with both the European Union and China, as well as the geographical location of the countries in the region, the following areas of possible impact can be identified. These include a possible decrease in EU-China freight traffic through Central Asia, increased Chinese and EU economic activity in Central Asia, and possible attempts by both Chinese and European companies to shift some of their production to the region to avoid new tariffs. Many thanks to Daryo Central Asia & Afghanistan and to Tawney Kruger !

The #EU will raise tariffs on Chinese electric car imports to 38.1% starting July 2024, prompting concerns about reduced freight traffic and increased economic activity in #CentralAsia as both Chinese and European companies may shift production to the region to avoid tariffs. UK and Ukraine extend tariff-free trade on majority of goods for an additional five years. The UK was the first country to remove tariffs on all its trade with Ukraine two years ago. Today’s announcement to significantly extend this existing agreement sees the UK continue that leading role, giving Ukrainian businesses and exporters much needed economic support and certainty. #ukrainesupport #freetrade #tradecompliance #exports https://lnkd.in/eSV-8iSp
