June is "birthday month" in my house. It's both my mom's birthday and mine. This year, my mom turned 70, and we had our first family vacation with the #NextGen of our family branch. It was a truly incredible vacation. Beyond the beauty of the location itself (shoutout to Terranea Resort), we spent great quality time together with no fights and no meltdowns. I keep wondering why. And I come back to a few things: 1) There was a clear #vision of what we hoped the vacation would look and feel like. 2) We planned well and had a good sense of how decisions would be made, aka we had informal #governance 3) We did a lot together, and we also had space to be ourselves. Collective fun was important, but not at the expense of individual needs (especially the toddler's!). 4) And finally, we were so grateful to be spending the time together and for the #generosity of our parents, we wanted to show them our #gratitude (see the gorgeous photo attached!) While this was "just us," and we're part of much larger families, the lessons from the vacation are applicable to #FamilyEnterprise. Start with the family. Move to shared vision. Keep the collective at top of mind, but allow for individuals to thrive. Figure out how to make decisions to uphold these things, and never forget to reflect on how lucky we are. #familyoffice #familybusiness #generationalwealth

#happynewyear Happy New Year! As we stand on the threshold of a brand new chapter, I extend my warmest wishes for a year filled with blessings, opportunities, and joy. May 2024 unfold like a tapestry of dreams come true. May your career soar to new heights, each step a testament to your hard work and dedication. May the bonds within your family grow stronger, and may the dreams of your loved ones find fulfilment. May your health be robust, your resilience unyielding, and may financial abundance flow into your life, multiplying a thousandfold. May each day bring you peace, joy, and a profound sense of fulfilment in all your endeavours. In the coming year, may you discover happiness in your hobbies, embark on a profitable side hustle, and watch your friendships deepen into meaningful connections. May you prioritize fitness and well-being, realizing the importance of self-care. May 2024 be a year of overseas vacations, enriching experiences, and encounters with life-changing books that elevate every facet of your being. May you have the opportunity to meet and network with individuals who catalyze your success and personal growth. As you step into the new year, may the music you love serenade your days, and may you find moments to dance and relish the simple joys of life. May your screen time diminish, allowing space for meaningful self-reflection and cherished connections with loved ones. May your time be an investment in both yourself and others. Let's also weave a commitment to animal rights. In this vast world, animals too have their space. Let's coexist, live, and let them live. Consider animals as friends, and treat pets as family. May the new year instill in us a profound appreciation for the rights and welfare of our fellow beings in the animal kingdom. Here's to a Happy 2024 and beyond, filled with prosperity, growth, and the unwavering support of those who matter most.👍🙏 Cherukuri Bhaskar

"i prefer to move at the speed of natural limitations" this quote about dog-sledding sorta changed my life. i've always been a restless person. i fill up my calendar to the brim, hate being behind on work, am always trying to fix something in my house, or go see a friend, or do something interesting, etc. as my Dad once told me, "you live life at a relentless pace." i used to wear this as a badge of honor - and sometimes still do. there's a vitality that i like to think my life can lend to the world. but i have limitations. immense limitations. and that's a good thing. 🐕🦺 a few years ago, i watched a documentary called "Sled Dogs" - it follows the incredible extremes to which sled dogs are able to push themselves to cover great distances in races across frozen tundra. i resonate with the sled dog lifestyle. but there was a quote during the documentary from one of the sled drivers that proved to be quite insightful. see, at a certain point in training (or in a dog sled race), the dogs just give out. they collapse from exhaustion. and the sled driver runs the risk of either pushing them harder, or letting them rest. the driver said this: "pushing them harder is really a matter of life or death. and i prefer to move at the speed of natural limitations." a matter of life or death. working hard...living life hard...those characteristics are wrapped up within the fabric of our culture. and i think we've tricked ourselves into believing that we are capable of things - in work or otherwise - that are beyond our human capacities. sometimes, we actually are capable of such things. but we are perpetually exhausted. we often push ourselves to the brink - or even in the dog sled analogy, to the point of our death. my point? work hard. get after it while the sun is shining. but do not try to outpace your natural human limitations. you have them for a reason. (lessons from dog-sledding). 🤷🏻♂️ 🐕 #JoyInTheJourney #UseTheTime #KeepGoing
