Each year we take our apprentices to GROW as part of their sustainability training. GROW are an agroecological farm and learning hub in Barnet, North London. With a firm belief in the right to a sustainable way of life for all, they deliver food growing and outdoor learning programmes for children, young people, and families who experience barriers to learning, healthy living and employment. Farms are the starting point of where our food comes from and are an integral piece of the sustainability puzzle for restaurants. Our visit touched on seasonality, how flavours change as a plant matures and the importance of nature-friendly farming. Understanding food systems is integral to working in hospitality, and we’re pleased to be inspiring the next generation through working with GROW.

Great idea, Holly! Trying to grow my own vegetables gave me a much greater appreciation for farmers. I'm sure that everyone enjoys this day.
