In our paper, "Minimally Invasive Treatment Protocol for Closed Pilon Fractures," we explored a novel approach to managing these complex ankle breaks. Traditionally, surgery for pilon fractures carries the risk of soft tissue damage and complications. Our study, conducted on 72 patients, presented a minimally invasive protocol tailored to each patient's specific injury severity, considering factors like soft tissue injury, bone fragmentation, and regional anatomy. This approach aimed to minimize complications and achieve optimal outcomes. Encouragingly, the majority of patients achieved good to excellent clinical and radiological results after an average of 34 months follow-up. While further research is warranted, our findings suggest this protocol could be a valuable tool for managing pilon fractures, potentially improving outcomes when combined with proper rehabilitation and weight-bearing restrictions.
