Nurse: “How can this be happening to patients? How can this be happening to me? 🔥 Doesn’t anyone care? I am so tired.” Me: “It’s not just exhaustion; A deeper dive reveals moral injury.” Mental health ER boarders Nurse Patient ratio Nurse anger New drugs EHR/EMR Another admission But amidst this chaos, there's a glimmer of hope. Behind the scenes, unseen by many, changes are brewing. I coached an ER Director with years of knowledge and the ability to write. She was struggling with her life. “I need something new but I love my work.” We looked at 8 main areas of her life and she realized that something outside of work needed to change. Then: She loved her work but asked, “Doesn’t anyone else see that this needs to change?” She had new ideas to share but no one could see the need in her work area. At first, she thought there was something wrong with her. No... SHE was open-minded. I suggested that she reach out to the ENA or her state ENA on Linked In. There she could connect meet new people share ideas possibly collaborate. What seems to be exhaustion, could just be our thoughts/work environment draining us. We think we need a nap, but BAM! What we need is to do something different to improve our energy. Have any of you talked with nurses outside your organization? And there is more… Nurses are speaking up. Younger people are looking toward health and wellness Hospitals are trying mental health approaches Nurses are creating change programs. #ERN #NURSES #Mental Health

Nurses face unique stressors that can lead to burnout, affecting not only their well-being but also the quality of care they provide. Nurse dissatisfiers often include excessive paperwork, inadequate support from management, high patient-to-nurse ratios, or lack of opportunities for professional development. From long hours to emotional exhaustion, understanding these challenges is important - but finding solutions to improve the clinician experience is crucial to reducing burnout and turnover. The results? Improved patient experience. https://to.pbs.org/3OCmrL0

Almost all nurses develop back pain as they age. Follow me closely. In my journey as a healthcare professional, I’ve witnessed firsthand the tremendous dedication and resilience of nurses. However, I’ve also experienced the heavy toll of burnout that can come with the job. A few years ago, I found myself on the brink. The long hours, emotional strain, and relentless pace of the job started to take their toll. I was deeply committed to my patients, but I was neglecting my well-being. The pressure to perform and the emotional weight of patient care began to overshadow my passion for nursing. During this challenging time, I realized the importance of acknowledging and addressing burnout. Seeking support from colleagues, setting boundaries, and prioritizing self-care became essential steps in my recovery. I learned that taking care of oneself isn’t a luxury but a necessity to continue providing high-quality care. Today, I advocate for open conversations about burnout and mental health in the nursing profession. We must support one another, recognize the signs of burnout, and create environments where self-care is encouraged and facilitated. Let’s work together to build a healthcare culture that values both the physical and emotional well-being of its professionals. Our strength lies not only in our dedication but in our ability to care for ourselves and each other. 💪❤️ #NursingBurnout #HealthcareWellbeing #SelfCare #SupportInHealthcare

Hiring top-notch nurses for mental health facilities 🏥 Recruiting skilled nurses for mental health is crucial to providing high-quality care. The American Nurses Foundation Urges Action on Critical Workforce Challenges. Let's Talk Solutions! 💬👩⚕️🚀 Adding onto a previous post on mental health, I recently came across a pivotal article from the American Nurses Foundation that addresses pressing challenges within our esteemed nursing workforce. The essence of the matter is clear: action is imperative. Approximately 40% of surveyed nurses expressed a lack of control over their workload, characterizing their day-to-day tasks as hectic or intense. Compounding the issue, two-thirds of nurses experiencing mental anguish or toxic emotions either do not seek or do not receive mental health support. Additionally, 56% of these individuals note the presence of stigma within the healthcare provider community associated with seeking mental health care. As members who rely on our healthcare community, it is paramount for us to collectively strategize on supporting our dedicated nurses who tirelessly contribute to the well-being of our society. I invite you to share your reflections and insights on how we can collaboratively address these challenges. Let's engage in meaningful dialogue and explore actionable solutions. Bedside nursing is tough. 😱 I have a bad day when there's a typo in my email... nurses have a bad day when their patient codes and they have to go through extreme graphic measures to LITERALLY save a life. They're SAINTS! I could truly never serve like they do. (mostly because I hate blood, hospitals, needles...) I digress... I know someone who is burned out from bedside nursing. She's looking to transition to a different type of role in the healthcare field, but the massive array of opportunity and direction is overwhelming. We've been using AI to sort possible options with a RN degree and assessing salaries that way too. Does anyone do recruiting for healthcare who can talk to my contact? Anyone know of a resource that could help guide her direction? Or anyone just want to connect with a fellow nurse who's burned out and struggling at the hospital? Not a marketing-related post, but I know LinkedIn will do its thing 🤗 TIA #nurse #healthcare #healthcarejobs #healthcarerecruiter #jobsearch #medicalcareers #medicaleducation
