Patients are at the center of everything we do at Johnson & Johnson. This Sunday marks #WorldPatientSafetyDay, an annual awareness day to enhance public understanding and spur action to promote patient safety as a global health priority. As a physician, I’ve observed firsthand just how empowering it can be for patients to be involved in their plan of care. They become active participants—learning about their condition, treatment, and recovery—contributing to significant gains in patient safety. Within J&J MedTech, our teams collaborate with a community of stakeholders to leverage RWD to drive forward safety science innovation. For instance, we collaborated with partners to help OR teams accurately and efficiently review device instructions before a procedure, promoting better communication and safety in the OR. Further, our partnership with the @National Evaluation System for health Technology Coordinating Center (NESTcc), an initiative of the @Medical Device Innovation Consortium, resulted in a device label expansion opening the door to potential faster, more representative pathways for label expansions. We must continue to educate and advocate for evidence- and science-based product decisions.
