NEXT WEEK! 15th Annual Critical Perspectives Conference - LIVE event. Mad knowledge has been historically invalidated by academic and professional disciplines. Despite the rhetoric of ‘social inclusion’ and ‘co-production’, service users/survivors/Mad people continue to be viewed as non-credible knowers in relation to their own experiences. This is a form of injustice that renders them powerless within the systems that are meant to support them. This year’s conference provides opportunities to consider Mad knowledge and the challenges involved in learning with and from Madness and distress. The conference will consider: - The diversity of Mad knowledge - The processes that marginalise Mad knowledge - Issues of credibility and representation - What it means to learn from Mad knowledge - The implications of this learning for education and practice systems - How we create environments to honour, and nurture Mad knowledge This event is LIVE only. How many educators/community advocates can truthfully say they attend conferences where they walk away with a breadth of new knowledge AND a learning community that aligns with their own practices? I am sure those are few and far between. Enter Human Restoration Project where Chris McNutt Nick Covington have created a learning atmosphere that is engaging, centered on revolutionary practice and COMMUNITY! Today was day one of their online conference and I cannot speak enough about how much I have learned. The keynotes Sawsan Jaber, PhD, NBCT and Mary Helen Immordino-Yang, EdD provided brain food to last me weeks of unpacking. The presentation will outline the utility of using Mass Open Online Courses (MOOC) as a mechanism for supporting equity and diversity in tertiary education though the medium of advances in technology enhanced leaning. Specifically, it will cover: 1. What are MOOCs co-production and how are they being used in the learning and teaching community. 2. Co-production of MOOCs from the perspective from autistic individuals Practical considerations for developing online learning that promotes diversity and equity in learning and teaching. 3. What next for MOOCs, how can we develop co-produced authentic learning and teaching experiences?
