Hello LinkedIn Community, What you see in this picture is a small part of a vast system that keeps aircraft flying! Today, during my internship, we identified a potential hydraulic leak in the aircraft brakes and investigated the main landing gear brakes' hydraulic pipeline system, particularly at gears 5 and 6 (co-pilot side main landing gears). As our Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineers (LAMEs) inspected the pipeline system, we interns were amazed by the complexity of these landing gears and the capability of Aircraft Manufacturing Engineers to turn theories into real-life machinery. Just look at the amount of piping in that part of the aircraft only! While I may not yet fully grasp the extent of how extraordinary these systems are, being in the learning phase and having my first industrial exposure certainly shapes my perspective. However, one thing is clear: immense hard work, dedication, extensive knowledge, and skills are required to bring these inventions to life. These systems are essential to modern life, whether for transportation, education abroad (like in my case), trade, or even recreation. They are indeed a life essence. Through this post, I want to extend my immense respect and appreciation to Aeronautical, Maintenance, and all engineers and technicians responsible for making these incredible birds that carry hundreds of people across the skies daily. 10 things I've learned at my internship!!! I have learned a lot in the last 7 months of being an automotive technician! I've learned what things are, where they may be located, and how they work. Each vehicle is different, so it varies from car to car. 1. I've learned how to take intake manifold off and put them back together. 2. I've learned how to manage phone calls and help customers in need. 3. I've learned that giving up is NOT an option, even though sometimes it might seem like the easiest way. 4. I've learned about the suspension and brake systems, how they work and why they work that way. 5. I've learned that making a mental note of what bolt goes where is very helpful. 6. I've learned how engines work, and more recently learned how to time an engine. 7. I learned that keeping your work space neet and tidy helps move things along much faster. 8. I've also learned that making mistakes is being human, I can't make everything perfect but as long as I try, that's all that matters. 9. Don't forget to unhook your battery ground cable before ever major job. 10. I've also learned that being an automotive technician is the most rewarding thing I've done so far. I've learned so much and I can help people in so many ways.

I have overhauled a Rolls Royce Engine before!!! 💪 During my internship, I had the incredible opportunity to immerse myself in the maritime industry aboard one of our company's vessels, the "Perdana Traveller." The journey led me to the ST Engineering yard in Tuas, Singapore, where I spent an enriching 1 and 1/2 months. At the heart of this experience was my involvement in the main engine overhaul team. Working alongside seasoned professionals like Benyamin and under the leadership of Ah Soon, a main engine specialist, was both challenging and rewarding. Ah Soon's dedication, coupled with his stash of energy drinks, kept us going through the rigorous process. At times, tackling challenging tasks solo during the overhauling process could be quite daunting, especially when dealing with heavy engine components like removing the cylinder block. In such moments, I didn't hesitate to seek guidance from my seniors. Thankfully, with their assistance and by some stroke of luck, everything proceeded smoothly. It's common in the maritime industry to encounter hurdles, and reaching out for help when needed is part of the learning curve. But my involvement didn't stop there. After completing the main engine overhaul, I eagerly joined the auxiliary engine team. These engines, crucial for generating electrical energy, were manufactured by Caterpillar. Diving into the intricacies of their operation further broadened my skill set. Yet, my responsibilities extended beyond engines. Repairing valves, maintaining pumps, and ensuring the smooth operation of various systems across the vessel were all part of my role. From centrifugal pumps to gear pumps, the learning curve was steep, but every challenge brought invaluable knowledge. In addition, I honed my lubricating skills, learned the importance of precision in every task, and prioritized safety working practices. Part handling became second nature as I navigated the intricacies of marine engineering. The dream of every aspiring Aircraft Engineer is an Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Internship with hands-on experience in Aircraft Maintenance and Repair Operations. "Did you think they'd just let you begin work on their Aircraft?" That was what my brother, Olusola Ojewunmi told me after my first day at Arik Air Limited back in 2021. I was ready to go all into doing "Engineer" things, so it was quite painful to know I'd be working in an office for the time being. Fast forward to almost 3 years after, at Onedot Aviation for my Graduate Training program, I came prepared. I knew I'd be working in an office for the time being to get on track with company procedures before I begin my dream work. Still, it hasn't been entirely easy. But in all, I've learnt to trust the process. It isn't easy, but it's absolutely necessary. Would I do it again if I could? Well, to be honest, I've got no choice, but to do it. Why? To gain in-depth knowledge on the totality of Aircraft Maintenance and not just the Engineering Aspects. My Dearest AeroLovelies, I know we are all eager to start the "Engineer" things during our Internships and Graduate Trainings. That has been our dreams for so long. But to be able to truly understand the beauty of Aircraft Maintenance, it's important to work in other related departments. Annie is enjoying her time at the Quality Assurance department.
