Teacher: (returning paper to student) Where are all the fragments and run-ons that are usually in your writing? Teen: I did my best. Teacher: 🤨 (raised eyebrow) Teen: (walking away) What are fragments and run-ons? 🤷 A couple years later, a new teacher in high school realized we didn’t understand grammar, and she changed our world. 🤩 I can’t teach your teen everything I learned that year in 2 nights, but I can help your teen understand what it takes to write a perfect sentence and how to put those sentences into an essay next week. Get a ticket to the paid workshop for your middle schooler, high schooler, or college student when you drop the word “pencil” below. Stronger writing skills make learning easier. I can help. #momsofteens #essaywritinghelp #GrammarLessons #writingtips #writing #essaywriting #parentsoftweens #parentsofteens

I help elementary educators find the time and strategies to effectively teach writing to all levels of learners in their classroom.
I am NOT a fan of the March Madness rush in schools! Writing instruction should be taught at the very beginning of the school year. Let’s not wait for next March to come around before we provide students with the writing tools they need to succeed. Ready to start planning ahead? Who? What? When? Where? Why? The five W's help children gather crucial information about a text and are a critical component of writing. This song helps students understand the importance of each W and how they improve fiction and nonfiction comprehension. This is an ideal resource for second graders who will enjoy singing along to the catchy tune and without realizing they are learning how to improve their reading and writing skills too! https://bit.ly/3y7XcLf

Everyday I’m faced with children who hate reading and writing. They groan at the idea of a writer in their school. This phenomenon can occur in as early as 6 year olds and by the time they reach 13 they often refuse to do it. Why? For me, it revolves around our enthusiasm for relentless testing. The idea of things being right and wrong sucks the play out of learning and fundamentally makes the act of reading boring. I’m fortunate. I can focus on fun. Running poetry workshops can be a laugh. In my view if they enjoy writing then the spelling and grammar and the language punctuation will follow. But what do you think? Teachers, parents? What’s your secret to improving literacy? #literacy #learning #education

Do you remember what it feels like to get a letter in the mail? How happy are you when your friend down the hall leaves a sticky note with a happy message on your desk? Why are these so impactful? 🌟 A note reminds us that someone cares and has taken a moment out of their day to connect. 🌟 This powerful action can be equally powerful in the classroom. Think about a student with whom you want to deepen your relationship. 📝 Write a note of encouragement 📝 Write a note to recognize a strong moment of learning 📝 Write a note that honors a kind action you witnessed The time it takes you to connect with your student in this way will feel good to you AND to your student. Go -- write a note! #studentrelationships #SEL #teachercare #teacherstudentconnection #studentcentered #writing #personalconnection #classroomconnection #engagedlearning #EduBoost
