Last week I attended a fantastic Pharma Brand Planning course in Brussels led by Edouard Demeire. The course covered brand planning from insights to strategy to tactics, emphasising customer understanding for differentiated positioning and superior value delivery. For those interested, below are some of the key learnings I took away from the course! ✅ A high-quality brand plan should demonstrate patient centricity by comprehensively mapping the patient flow, quantifying patient pools, identifying adoption of the product and competitors, and uncovering key insights from the patient experience journey. ✅ Market segmentation criteria for patients, HCPs and other stakeholders should be clearly differentiating. Priority segments should be selected and addressed with differentiated tactics that meet their specific needs and pain points. ✅ Brand positioning should be based on customer perceptions of competitors and chosen to be important, unique and sustainable. Stakeholder-specific value propositions should align with the overall brand positioning. ✅ Customer-centric tactical plans identify stakeholders and desired behaviors to address CSFs. Tactics should specifically target behavioral objectives and segment-specific beliefs or pain points rather than broad objectives. ✅ Critical success factors (CSFs) should focus on a few key insights. CSFs should align with the situation analysis, brand strategy, and enable achieving the brand's goals. ✅ Performance management involves assessing tactic impact and cost, prioritising high-impact activities, and defining leading indicator KPIs/OKRs to track progress continuously. ✅ Apply design thinking to identify stakeholder pain points and improve delivered customer value through product benefits, non-product benefits and reduced costs. ✅ In summary, the overall brand planning process spans market insights, strategy and tactics. It should foster team sensitivity to change, commitment to customer centricity, and fluid resource allocation in an agile manner. #pharma #brandplanning #brandlaunch #patientsupport
