JMCo has been serving islanders for over 100 years. Well-known as fabricators and fitters of stone worktops for kitchens and bathrooms, the origin of the business is in memorial headstones. Whereas we used to hand-carve all memorials into either Italian marble or local granite, nowadays 99.9% of the headstones used are imported granite, and we then inscribe them with the design and words of your choice. Please visit our website for more details, call us on 730252 or just drop into our showroom at La Collette. - We are open Monday to Friday from 8am to 5pm. #memorial #headstones #history #jerseyci

After a day spent out and about quoting, one of the questions I was asked most is 'how often should I have the stone treated'. There really is no cut and dry answer to this as it all depends on what you are aiming for. Perfection with stone is not achievable and it shouldn't be desired either. It's the imperfections that make it unique. There is however, value in regular professional maintenance. Part of the process of restoration is reapplication of sealant. This is essential to ensure that the internal structure of the stone remains protected and that any spillages won't cause lasting damage. #marble #luxuryproperty #interiordesign
PROJECT • FEATURE Stone Type: Marble Surface: Bathroom Referred By: Darren Bedwell Over time natural stone will wear. It might lose it's shine or just become a little lack lustre. It was a pleasure to return our client's marble bathroom to its former glory, adding a depth to the colour and just making the stone a feature once more. #naturalstone #restoration #surfacedesign

Tell me Tuesday wants to know how many are aware of the history of terrazzo flooring. Did you know the Egyptians originally created terrazzo floors using lime-based binders and crushed stones? Or that in the 15th century, Venetian artisans embedded discarded marble chips into concrete mixtures? Perhaps you knew that in the 18th century the form we use today was created from the Venetian pavement and the cheaper seminato. Regardless, you are probably aware that it is a beautiful yet expensive flooring option. The good news... Concept Surfaces has several very affordable terrazzo visuals. Some that are through body and others that a color body. The video illustrates just a handful of our offering. If you want to learn more, I suspect you know exactly who to contact! #conceptsurfaces #terrazzovisuals #materialhistory

Builder, have you ever found yourself in a dilemma, wondering which stone to pick for your next project? Marble is timeless, elegant, and incredibly sophisticated. Its polished, smooth surface and unique veining patterns radiate luxury. It's a good choice for high-end projects where aesthetics come first. Marble is softer and more porous than granite, so it requires a bit more care to maintain its unaltered look. Granite, on the other hand, is the mainstay of natural stones. It’s tough and durable, with a grainy texture and plenty of colors that make it a versatile choice for both indoor and outdoor projects. Granite is less porous and more stain-resistant than marble, perfect for kitchens and high-traffic areas. If you’re seeking a material that combines durability with natural beauty, granite is your best bet. When it comes to choosing, it all depends on the specific needs of your project. Both materials bring their own unique strengths to the table, and can elevate your projects to new heights. Whether you’re leaning towards the beauty of marble or the strength of granite, Classic Stoneworks has you covered. #ClassicStoneworks #BuilderExcellence #Marble #Granite #Stonework #Project #MarbleVsGranite #NaturalStone

Granite: Hardness: Granite is a stronger and harder stone compared to marble, which gives it a shiny, glossy appearance. Appearance: It has a wide range of speckled colors due to melded stones within its composition. Heat Resistance: Granite is heat resistant, making it suitable for various applications. Marble: Hardness: Marble has a hardness of 3 to 5 on the Mohs scale, making it less durable than granite. Appearance: It has a more subtle and elegant look with unique veining and patterns. Heat Sensitivity: Marble is not heat resistant and can etch easily, especially in kitchen settings. These differences in hardness, appearance, and heat resistance make Granite and Marble suitable for different purposes based on their unique characteristics.

Have you ever thought about how well a countertop can handle heat? It's important to consider the daily circumstances of those who will live there when thinking about a kitchen project. A durable natural stone countertop is needed to hold hot pans, plates, and pot. Some good choices include: Granite A top choice when it comes to withstanding heat, it's a natural stone formed under extreme pressure and heat. That makes it very durable and resistant to heat. Granite countertops are available in a wide range of patterns and colors. Soapstone Another option is soapstone, a metamorphic rock that is resistant to high temperatures and breaks easily. It boasts a smooth, matte finish that helps ensure the overall appearance of an elegant view. The soapstone acquires a patina over time, which enhances the character of the space. Quartz A mineral stone that very much resembles marble but happens to be heat-resistant. Quartz countertops are scratch-resistant, so style and function should come first when considering a countertop. Classic Stoneworks is the source for any of the above-mentioned heat-resistant, natural stone countertops.
