Educational professional supporting choice and change.

I wish the charter school development process was as clear as this slide deck outlines. The process for charter school approval in California is very time consuming and can be complicated, with many variables impacting the petition writing, authorization, and start up process. Having worked with new charter developer teams for over 11 years, many teams take 2, 3, and even 4 years to finally get approved and open their doors to students. Removing barriers and obstacles is required, and most teams need guidance on facilities, budget development, and legal compliance. Opening a charter school is not impossible, but certainly requires capacity, political awareness, and tenacity.

🏫 Ever wondered how charter schools come to be? Charter schools operate with a unique model where leaders accept heightened accountability in exchange for greater flexibility and autonomy. This setup allows them to tailor educational strategies to meet the specific needs of their students and communities. From inception to execution, charter schools embody innovation and a commitment to educational excellence. 🌟 Did you attend or teach at a charter school? We'd love to hear about your experience!
