Business owners need the appropriate banking services to run their businesses. For small high street retailers and hospitality businesses who take cash payments this needs to include local banking services that accepts cash deposits and provides change for tills. Same goes for those people who sell at farmers’s markets and festivals. Patchy WiFi and system outage often leaves these businesses without the wherewithal to accept card payments and they need the option to take cash. If you pay with a note for your chocolate brownie then they need to be able to give you change. There’s no point making sure we have cashpoints if there is nowhere for the people who get that cash to spend it! The ability to spend cash on our high streets (and in our villages) is really important. The people who are most likely to rely on cash are the vulnerable. It is vital for the financial independence of many elderly people. It’s crucial for local economies and communities. That’s why we need the new FCA cash access rules (currently under review) to require there be a Banking Hub in a town that doesn’t have a bank branch that provides business banking services. I’ve been running a campaign in my local town but this affects all of us. At the moment it’s a waiting game for the FCA decision but I urge everyone to watch this one - keep an eye on this. Tandym launches Real-time payouts leveraging the RTP network As we get underway into 2024, we at Tandym wanted to kick off  the new year by sharing our latest innovation to enable even better cash flow for our merchants. We have successfully tested and launched real-time payouts for our merchants using the RTP network ! As a part of the vision and to drive the best merchant experience, we have been working hard at figuring out how to get the money to the merchants as quickly as possible. We have direct connection with all of our merchants and so we first enabled a real-time settlement mechanism whereby the funds are guaranteed for the merchants as soon as it’s successfully captured. With this recent feature, we are able to go one step further and instantly payout to the merchants leveraging RTP. This truly opens up all sorts of opportunities to continue paying our merchants even during after-hours and weekends (when banks and ACH networks don’t work) for a truly 24/7 world. However being pragmatic, merchants aren’t too eager to get payouts after each transaction (reconciliation and operational nightmare for them) but getting away from any sort of T+1, T+2 settlements and payout lags associated is a huge win for our merchants. One of our merchants quipped if we can do payouts for all of their payment methods <3 ...
