As a matter of fact: 1) Their 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹 went from predictable to uncertain, and resilience will depend on their ability to invest in automation and manage that transformation with learning and talent development 2) 𝗛𝘆𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗻𝗼 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗺 𝘁𝗼 𝗳𝗶𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗿'𝘀 𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹, even though they still represent significant money-locked investments for retailers. What can they do with it? 3) 𝗘-𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗲 is increasingly more critical, and a functioning and organically profitable operating model is required in the present rather than as a vision for the future. 4) 𝗥𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗹 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮 is an essential source of future income for retailers and also represents an opportunity for better sales conversion for consumer companies vs. current promotional offers. 5) 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 - once distant in the rear mirror - are getting closer and closer as the vendor-centric model of full-service grocers is losing share to the shopper-centric model of discounters.
