The Nike symbol aka “The Swoosh” is one of the most iconic logos of today.✨ So, here's an interesting little backstory👇 The idea of the Swoosh is connected to the name of the brand, Nike, called after the Greek goddess of Victory, and the graphical element represents the goddess’ wing.👟 It was created by Carolyn Davidson in 1971 and took her almost 17.5 hours. (for which she was paid $2 an hour)😯 But in its initial days, Nike was known as Blue Ribbon Sports.😎 The company's original logo consisted of the initials “BRS” intertwined with stripes and a unique shape. However, the legibility of the text posed a problem, so they developed a simplified design. Funny story: When Carolyn showed the iconic Swoosh to Nike co-founder Phil Knight, he wasn't a big fan.🫠 Despite Phil's reservations, the Swoosh logo became a hugely successful symbol of the Nike brand.🤩 By the mid-1990s, the Swoosh logo was one of the most recognisable symbols in the world. The Bape Sta and Sk8 Sta, which Nike claims are based on the Air Force 1 and Dunk respectively, will be discontinued. Interstingly, Bape has changed the look of the Bape Sta before, altering it slightly to make its lines and shapes look more or less like the Air Force 1 over different iterations.
