⚡ ⚡ ⚡ Richard Hall, head of ZappyRide EV products at J.D. Power, delves into the complexities of calculating the true total cost of ownership (TCO) for EVs. Hall highlights the importance of considering various cost factors, including purchase price, incentives, maintenance, insurance, and infrastructure expenses. While EVs often have higher initial costs, they can offer significant savings over time through lower fuel and maintenance expenses. Hall emphasizes that understanding TCO requires a data-driven approach, considering all relevant factors and projecting costs and savings over time. This approach is critical for making informed decisions about transitioning to EVs. Deciphering true ownership costs for electric fleet vehicles is an evolving science. Essential elements to determine Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for #ElectricVehicles: - Purchase Price minus incentives - Maintenance - Operational Costs - Insurance - Residual values (depreciation) - Infrastructure charges (Charging) - Return on Investment (ROI) J.D. Power's ZappyRide team has been analyzing TCO for years. Check out this TCO analysis we did for Automotive Fleet: https://lnkd.in/dAUJTSEU #ElectricFleet #ElectricTrucks #Utilities #Electrification #EV #EVs

Accelerating the Shift to Cleaner Transportation | SVP of Sales | Financial Technology | Thought Leadership | Fleet Management
The debate on the total cost of ownership for an internal cumbustion vehicle compared to electric vehicle continues to evolve with changing costs, technology and a range of other factors. I presented at NAFA that "TCO IS DEAD;" to be fair calculating the TCO for your specific fleet once a year is dead. In my opinion we need to peridocially check the data points and assumptions. For example fuel at the pump at $4.00 compared to $2.50 makes a BIG difference especially with higher mileage fleets. The attached article is one of the best I have read recently with real examples and detailed cost analysis, check it out (nice job Chris Brown). Need help, give us a shout! #TCO #EV #Zeti #fleet #fleets #fleetmanagement #procurement #sustainability

Commercial fleet operators today are confronting one of the most critical challenges they have faced in decades. In the past few years, legislators have passed laws forcing them to #electrify their fleets. Using the "carrot and stick" approach, much of the legislation surrounding #ElectricVehicles includes both stringent requirements and generous incentives. Check out this telling real-life example of how one fleet manager was shocked to learn that they failed to take advantage of $600,000 in "free money" #EVincentives P.S. --> we build best in class white label web tools to help our customers help their customers education and realize the benefits of replacing internal combustion vehicles with #EVs. This includes total cost of ownership (TCO), Incentives, fueling costs, maintenance & insurance, charging equipment and more. Message me if you'd like to learn more or chat.

As predicted by our group, the total cost of ownership of EVs will start to favor them over ICE vehicles at the point in time that there is enough competition in the marketplace. That time is about now. The most recent analysis of total cost of ownership of ICE vs. EV passenger vehicles shows that "20 of 41 (49%) EVs studied had a lower total cost of ownership over 5 years than their internal combustion engine (ICE) counterparts." (Cleantechnica - 6/10/24 *) And, not surprising either, "the biggest strengths of EVs were their fuel and maintenance costs. All 41 EVs had lower fuel costs than their gasoline alternatives, while 37 of 41 EVs had lower maintenance costs than their ICE alternatives." This is all happening well before the real competition begins. We have not yet met the EV adopter who dislikes the car itself, and manufacturers are aware of the loyalty they are building with those buyers. The only real barrier is the access to public and on-site charging. That's where facilitators, like EV Power Source, are helping the cause. * https://lnkd.in/g8FjNZiR
