We like say that our time is money…… Yet we don’t talk a lot about how our lack of managing it…… Is costing us big bucks and frustrated technicians. I feel one of the biggest mistakes we make in this industry is not allowing for a proper inspection process and over selling our expectations for completion. Which causes unhappy customers and unrealistic expectations on our technicians. Our inspection processs should be streamlined and thoroughly touch all important touch points. We need to encourage our technicians to be identifying the concerns and we should have a process in place to slow the process at the desk that informs our customers and allow our technicians the time for proper diagnostic. When we do not understand the customer demands or set expectations at check in, we limit what we can take in and we create gaps of time that creates flustered techs , quality control issues and upset customers. One of the biggest contributors to our retention issues of today. Effecient workflow in our shops, requires us to understand our technician capabilities, properly manage the incoming work and keeping a constant rotation of work and busy racks. We will limit what we can bring in…. How we meet our time demands will directly impact our new customer growth, and our retention all around. Setting our technicians up for success , will create better effective labor and the ability to deliver quality results.

Vehicle Receiving Process: *Meet & greet the customer *Confirm all customer information updated on DMS (VIN, Name, Mobile & Email) *Check the customer concerns & asking open questions *Put a protector covers, perform vehicle around & interior checks & fill the VHC *Offering a carry bag to customer in order to remove his valuable things from the vehicle & obtaining his signature upon RO creation *Check FA status on IVH *Create a RO for all customer’s concern with & putting the proper stamp (Appointment, customer waiting, repeat repair …etc.) *Inform the customer for all work to be done on his vehicle (Regular service or Repair Work) *A realistic promise time to be given to customer & written on the RO. For regular service, inform the customer that vehicle will be delivered on the same day *For Mechanical repair, inform the customer that extra time needed for diagnostic purposes *The price of regular service to be written on RO & provide the customer with approximate price for repair work but the exact price & time to be notified after inspection. *Customer Communication sheet to be attached to RO and should be dully filled with all customer’s updates. *The above process must be done within 15 Minutes (If QC is not involved).

Equipment failure again! Today I'm having a rant, I've owned this piece of equipment for just a few years and it's already let me down twice and had to be repaired back at the factory in Germany. Now it's let me down again, with the same failure. Hermann Sewerin GmbH customer support is almost non-existant in the UK, it's the same old story, send it back to Germany at your expense and wait weeks for us to return it. Can you send me a temporary replacement in the meantime?.... 😂😂😂 of course not! Building surveyor's rely on their kit. Being able to test and inspect services in buildings is essential to our diagnosis. Servicing, maintaining and calibrating our equipment to ensure accurate results is almost a job in it's own. It's disappointing when products from supposedly well known and respected brands continue to fail and let you down. What's equally frustrating is the customer service. I won't be buying or recommending Sewerin products again. Sewerin, sort your game out! I hope your days going better than mine.
