Nice piece of naval engineering, isn't it? wait to learn the more sinister aspect of the ship shown below. BYD became the world leader in electric cars last quarter, surpassing Tesla. At the same time we have seen how Chinese cars are outselling Japanese cars in Europe. And this is just the beginning. BYD has just received the first of its mega vessels, which can transport up to 7,000 cars by sea to Europe in a single trip. This RO-RO (Roll on/Roll off) ship, shown in the picture below, is only the beginning. To illustrate the magnitude of the tsunami of inexpensive Chinese EV cars that are going to flood the European and American markets, note that Chinese companies have traditionally ordered only 3 RO-ROs per year on average in the last 9 years, but the order book for the next 3 years includes more than 23 per year. This means that in 3 years, Chinese manufacturers will use a fleet that is more than four times the size of all the RO-ROs that have been constructed in the last 9 years (https://lnkd.in/gEmPvVP9). We could fear the impact on the local automotive industry in the EU and the US as a direct consequence of such a tsunami of cheap imports. That will eventually destroy the local industry the same way it destroyed the phone manufacturing, clothes and any other massive manufactured production. But there is an even more sinister aspect to this. These ships have dual use and can also be used for military logistics. The People's Liberation Army (PLA) has recently begun to incorporate RO-ROs directly into amphibious assault exercises. The first publicly known instance of this was in 2019, when the 15,000-ton RO-RO Bang Chui Dao participated in an amphibious assault exercise. It has since become commonplace. Open-source analysis indicates that, in 2022, 30 separate commercial RO-ROs were observed supporting large-scale PLA lift exercises (https://lnkd.in/gYJQJNbT). The PLA lacks enough military hardware to transport large numbers of troops and equipment to key theaters, such as Taiwan. RO-ROs could play a key role in solving this problem, as they could launch and recover amphibious combat vehicles directly onto beaches from offshore. This could pose a serious threat to Taiwan's security and stability in the South China Sea (https://lnkd.in/gG-p5q4m).

Aircraft Maintenance Engineers (AMEs) play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and airworthiness of aircraft. Here are some key points about their life and profession: 1. Role and Responsibilities: - AMEs are responsible for inspecting, maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting aircraft systems to ensure they are in optimal working condition. - They perform scheduled maintenance tasks, including routine inspections, component replacements, and system checks. - AMEs work on various aircraft parts such as engines, airframes, avionics systems, and electrical systems. - Their role also involves diagnosing and resolving mechanical and technical issues, both on the ground and sometimes in-flight. 2. Education and Licensing: - To become an AME, individuals typically need to complete an approved aircraft maintenance engineering program. - These programs cover theoretical and practical training on aircraft systems, maintenance procedures, safety regulations, and troubleshooting. #aviationindustry #aviationjobs #aviationlovers #aviationtraining #aviationsafety #aviationcareers #aviationcollage #aviationinnovation #aviationnetworking #aviationhistory #indianaviation
