Truth!!!! Seeing it even at IVY League MBA programs!!
I can't agree more my friend! Soft skills are critical to success at work (and in life). While some schools recognize and encourage this, many others could do a much better job
There’s nothing small about small talk. It can play a big role in putting others at ease, seeking common interests and gauging interest in talk. “Soft skills” are vital in networking, yet rarely taught by institutions where they are often unappreciated.
Just smiling at someone is an amazing attribute you don't see happen much anymore it is like everyone is so uptight. I have never received an unwelcome response when I smile at someone. We need more of that in this world and look people in the eye when speaking and firm handshakes too.
I see it clearly in young people. It is even a challenge for us parents to make aware our kids about the importance of networking. Entitlement is big in new generations, we must be present and help our younger generations to install this “curiosity” to talk to others.
James, You’re on the right track, but true guidance, counsel and ongoing support for future career / employment planning cannot be acommplished in the virtual world too many of us choose to live in.
