I've been on a kick lately, thinking about the most influential commercials I’ve seen—compact stories intricately woven together that touch the heartstrings and take you along for the ride. Today, I’m reminded of the DICK'S Sporting Goods basketball commercial called "The Hoop." Backed by the thoughtful lyrics of Drew Holcomb and the Neighbors, this story takes you on a journey... And it hits home - who knows, maybe it's the dad in me. In a world obsessed with the latest technology, trends, or metrics, it’s refreshing to see a brand take a step back and remind us about what matters. They don't talk about the F&B's or the technical details of the hoop—In 60 seconds, the tell a story about the bond between a father and daughter, and the moments they share. The hoop is merely a vehicle to make the connection. It’s another classic example of storytelling at its best. At its core, it’s a lesson in leadership: brands should aim to connect emotionally and authentically with their audience. It's not about selling products; it's about inviting people into stories. Take a minute to watch - Definitely worth your time - https://lnkd.in/gUHzjyFU #Marketing #Leadership #Branding

🔥 🐶 Narrative Change: Lessons from Snoop Dogg’s Evolution 🔄 Narrative change is about reshaping the stories that define us, influencing how we’re perceived and how we see ourselves. 🌟 Snoop Dogg’s journey—from “Murder Was the Case” in 1994 to becoming a beloved national treasure and Olympic ambassador—is a powerful example of this transformation. 🎵 Here are three tips for narrative change, inspired by Snoop Dogg’s iconic songs: 🎤 “Drop It Like It’s Hot” - Embrace Authenticity: Just like Snoop’s hit single stood out for its originality, your narrative should be authentic and true to real experiences. ✨ Authenticity builds trust and deep connections with your audience. 🌎 “Nuthin’ But a ‘G’ Thang” - Elevate Diverse Voices: Snoop’s collaborations highlight the power of bringing different voices together. Similarly, including diverse perspectives in your narrative makes it richer and more inclusive. 💪🏽 “Who Am I (What’s My Name)?” - Be Consistent and Persistent: Snoop Dogg’s name became synonymous with his brand through consistent and persistent messaging. To change a narrative, you need to be equally consistent in reinforcing your message across all channels. 🚀 Snoop Dogg’s transformation shows us that with authenticity, inclusivity, and consistency, we can successfully change narratives and leave a lasting impact. #NarrativeChange #Authenticity #DiverseVoices #Consistency #SnoopDogg #Leadership

Willie Mays - The Catch - And Teamwork Among Willie Mays’ many remarkable feats “The Catch” stands out. My connection? A humorous add on anecdote about The Catch that I shared in speeches to highlight how easy it is to take credit for things you didn’t do and to dismiss the value of teamwork. After Mays made what many consider the most extraordinary catch in the history of baseball, the pitcher, Don Liddle, was immediately taken out of the game. Entering the dugout, Liddle joked, "I got my man!" Technically, he did. The record book shows he was the pitcher, and the batter was out. Yet in reality, Willie Mays and his team did it. Audiences laughed, got the message and remembered it. Clients sent details about the game, pictures and even a sculpture. As time and topics evolved, I phased out telling that story. Yet clients still asked: “Please tell that Willie Mays story again?” While I was still telling the story a lot, I happened to meet Willie Mays at an airline club. We had a few ‘road warrior moments,’ and I asked if Don Liddle actually said he got his man. Mays replied, "I don’t know. I was in centerfield." Then he grinned and added – “Don Liddle said a lot of funny things.” As with many road warrior meetings, we had that moment and moved on. Now, Willie Mays has moved on. Yet, the memory of his spirit, contributions, and “The Catch” remain. #WillieMays #TheCatch #Teamwork #Storytelling #StorySelling #CommunicationSkills #PresentationSkills Here’s a link to the Catch. https://lnkd.in/gnrFMQ7j
