April 23 marks the birthday of the United States Army Reserve. Following World War I, under the National Defense Act of 1920, Congress reorganized the United States land forces by authorizing a Regular Army, a National Guard, and an Organized Reserve (Officer Reserve Corps and Enlisted Reserve Corps) of thirty-five divisions, which later became the #ArmyReserve. On my SoldierGirl Substack newsletter, I write about the US Military from my vantage as a kid who grew up in a military family, as an ROTC cadet and active-duty Army officer, and from 25 years of studying US war culture. Take a look at my recent post: The story of women in the US Military.

Executive Assistant to the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense (DASD) for Military Community & Family Policy (MCFP) in the Organization of the Joint Chiefs at the Pentagon.
Today we honor and celebrate the 249th United States Army Birthday. We extended our deepest thanks and gratitude to every Soldier serving on Active duty, Reserves, National Guard, Veteran, Retirees, and their families for your service to our nation. We honor and remember those Soldiers who paid the ultimate sacrifice to defend our nation, our allies, and the values of the US Constitution. #DeptofDefense #ThePentagon #MilitaryCommunityandFamilyPolicy #USArmy #ThisWeWillDefend History The United States Army (USA) is the land service branch of the United States Armed Forces. It is one of the eight U.S. uniformed services, and is designated as the Army of the United States in the U.S. Constitution. The oldest and most senior branch of the U.S. military in order of precedence, the modern U.S. Army has its roots in the Continental Army, which was formed on 14 June 1775 to fight the American Revolutionary War (1775–1783)—before the United States was established as a country. After the Revolutionary War, the Congress of the Confederation created the United States Army on 3 June 1784 to replace the disbanded Continental Army. The United States Army considers itself to be a continuation of the Continental Army, and thus considers its institutional inception to be the origin of that armed force in 1775.

Passionate advocate dedicated to serving and empowering others. As a licensed master of social worker, I use my background in mental health to help guide the journey through life/executive/goal attainment coaching.
It was December 23, 1783 when George Washington resigned his commission as the Commander in Chief of the Continental Army. The war had ended and this country needed a President to hold us together. Several years ago during Army/Navy weekend, my husband and I went to the Maryland State House where this event happened. What struck me the most were the tear stains on General Washington’s speech. There were edits and changes but there were tear stains. Turns out he did ok for himself. Thinking about making a change in life? Does it scare you? Does the thought of it leave tear stains? Love your job. Love your potential. Love your change. Grab yourself a career coach and get it done. #lifecoach #careercoaching #executivecoach

Med Device Sales & Contracting made easy at Government (VA & DoD) Accounts ...aka Mil-Speaking® // Author // Veteran
If you have any siblings or kids you're a walking testimonial for this Mil-Speaking Sale Tip! My (little) brother and I hated when our parents (and even teachers) referred to us as the other...and THEN we joined the military and it got worse! I went varsity...aka Navy, while my brother went JV...aka Army. So you can image how each of us feels when someone...or some business refers to us interchangeably. My brother is a Soldier...and isn't named Chris! I am a Sailor...and not named Eric! If you wan to sell to military community members, differentiate yourself by engaging with us using our correct branch titles! #marketing #advertising #sales

Proud to be affiliated with an organization that values people above everything else. Many service members carry invisible scars that often go untreated due to the stigma surrounding mental health. But it's not just service members who face these challenges. The past few years has been tough on everyone, and it's important to recognize that the pandemic has caused similar stressors for many. Unfortunately, even medical professionals who have been working tirelessly lack the necessary training and support to deal with the mental health fallout. Let's take a step forward and be mindful of those around us. Together, we can create a more supportive and understanding community. #mentalhealthawareness #supporteachother
