At J.Crew, our Associate Impact Groups (AIG) are crucial in creating an aspirational environment and culture. They foster a stronger sense of community, drive organizational change, create opportunities for cultural exchange, and positively impact their communities. Recently, Unidos—dedicated to our Latine associates and allies—teamed up with the Texas JCG team to join a volunteer event at the San Antonio Food Bank— to support its mission to fight hunger and feed hope across Southwest Texas. We had 11 of our J.Crew Factory Retail and Customer Care associates from the Houston and San Antonio areas work together to sort and pack produce, nonperishable foods, and household items in preparation for distribution to members of the local community being served. Through their efforts, the team was able to organize and box over 3200 lbs. of food, which equates to 2,587 meals in total. We are proud of our associates who choose to give back and make a difference in their communities. #JCrewCares #AIG #GiveBack #JCrew

Today, @ColoradoPublicRadio (CPR) calls Denver's weather Famously Fickle. It got us wondering what the bees do during these cold spells? How do they stay warm? We went directly to our resident beekeeper, @FRB's Head beekeeper, Mike Rosol. Mike shares, "Honeybees can actually warm the inside of their hive. Certain bees are designated as "heater bees" (Not kidding!) and they crawl headfirst into an empty cell. Then, they vibrate their wing muscles extremely rapidly, generating tiny amounts of heat. This warms the wax and any stored honey that is adjacent to that cell. The bees will space themselves across a series of frames in the center of the hive and all work together to generate enough heat to keep the inside of the hive at least 70 degrees F! When the honeybees have stored a lot of honey from their prior season, they have enough food to last through these cold spells. Darn interesting and fascinating that bees are so ingenious. We can learn a lot from them and we need to be taking care of them! Can your company help by hosting hives? Connecting Talent & Building Dream Teams at CFMWS | Relocation REALTOR® with Engel & Völkers Ottawa Brokerage.
600 Easter Eggs 🥚 🥚 🥚 In 2021, our family was relocated from Victoria to Ottawa. Shortly after, I went on maternity leave with our second son. It was a HUGE adjustment going from having my active real estate business and being surrounded by friends and family, to feeling pretty darn isolated at home with two little ones in a new place. Eventually I made a friend down the street, and that first Spring I invited her family to join ours for an Easter Egg hunt in our backyard; collectively we had 5 kids. This past spring, just 3 short years later, we continued our annual Easter Egg Hunt, and I couldn't help but tear up as it hit me what an amazing community we have built around our family - this year we hosted 11 families with a combined 29 kids! (5 families brought deviled eggs 😋) As military spouses, this sense of community is our anchor, especially when we find ourselves in new locations or when our partners are on extended deployments. Employers can play a crucial role in fostering this sense of belonging by creating opportunities for military spouses to connect within the workplace. When employees feel connected, they are more engaged, productive, and loyal. Building networks and community spaces within your organization not only supports military spouses but also enhances overall workplace morale and collaboration. Let's create workplaces where everyone feels they belong. Reach out to learn how you can support military spouses and foster community within your organization. #MSEN #MilitarySpouses #Community #WorkplaceCulture #EmployeeEngagement #Belonging

As a summer camp director, one of the mottos I'd try to instill in my staff was "See the need, meet the need" and at that time "the need" was a water cooler needing to be refilled or an extra set of hands in the kitchen. Reflecting on the work we've done at SWIM over the last year, I've realized that we're helping organizations addressing food insecurity use the "see the need, meet the need" philosophy in many ways ➡Using their data to better understand what their neighbors want and need, so they can "see" the need better. ➡Planning goals and strategies about what they learned from their data so they can meet the need. ➡Leveraging their influence to set the table for innovation and collaboration to assist others in meeting the need. Across the country, people who love and take pride in their region want to share it with loved ones, employees, or customers. But too often, they’re let down when they find out that many products are merely sourced from the region and not actually made there. 😔 At Norfolk Deli, we believe in authenticity. #workforcedevelopment #futureleaders Working with youth and helping them achieve their dreams includes many aspects. Service to others is just one of the ways we have found is helpful.
Over 400 cars drove through Elgin Community College’s campus for the Northern Illinois Food Bank’s Mobile Market today, where local families received a trunk load of free food. I am so glad I was able to spend the morning loading food into cars with some of the great volunteers who happen to be members our Future Workforce Leaders program which is funded by Chicago Cook Workforce Partnership. Thank you Vicki and Sandy Klinkey for coordinating the effort! #communitycollege #impact #eccwdce #wioa #workforcedevelopment

Brigid's Day | Lá Fhéile Bríde For just over a year now, I have felt Brigid's knock on the door; she has crossed the threshold from her world into mine in many ways. My middle name is Brigid, so I feel Brigid-centred. I was born on the 9th of February, not long after her feast day. I come from a long line of Brigid's. My maternal grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother are and were all Brigid's, to name but a few connections. When my mother passed away in January last year, there was just one thing that I wanted of hers, and that was her St Brigid’s Cross. I didn't know why at the time, but I can engage in its symbolism now. The celebration of Brigid's Day as a national holiday in Ireland underscores the significance of embracing change and transition. Brigid embodies the duality of many spiritual traditions and symbolises the threshold, the space between two opposites. Participating in this liminal space, perhaps through deeper exploration of ourselves, through intuitive practices, invoking Imbas, active imagination, dream analysis, and communing with nature could help initiate this, allowing us to gain self-awareness and a deeper understanding of humanity and the other-than-human world. Through arts and culture, we can explore thresholds and gain insights into our emotions and experiences to navigate transformation and change. However, contemporary Irish society faces challenges, such as a lack of meaningful rites of passage, a loss of connection with our inner selves, hustle culture, and environmental apathy. Addressing these issues by promoting structured rituals and preserving natural rhythms can lead to a more sustainable and fulfilling future. We can create a more harmonious and thriving society by recognising the importance of embracing transition and change while preserving cultural traditions. Brigid reminds us that navigating transitional periods can lead to self-discovery and that exploring thresholds offers a rich metaphor for exploring a wide range of human experiences and emotions. #BrigidsDay #Imbolc #InnerWisdom #Inspiration #GoddessBrigid #Imbas #JuniganPsychology #creativity #ireland #StBrigidsDay

Reflecting on my time at the Georgetown Volunteer Fire Department, I realize I don't have many videos to look back on. Surprisingly, I stumbled upon this one, capturing my first flashover training and my first time stationed at the nozzle. As I stepped into the intense heat of the container, my senses were overwhelmed. My heart pounded so loudly I couldn't hear anything else, and the scorching temperatures between 900 and 1500 degrees Fahrenheit made it feel like my bones were melting. With a crew of three behind me, relying on my judgment when oxygen was introduced to the container, the pressure was palpable. In the heat of the moment, I made a critical error. If not for the well-trained, trusted crew by my side that day, we might not have made it out. That experience taught me a profound lesson: above all else, trust binds a team together. It's the cornerstone of effective collaboration, ensuring that even in the most challenging situations, we can rely on each other to navigate safely through the flames. I want so badly to be part of a volunteer department, to rock turnout gear once more and proudly answer to the nickname "twig20" someday. #firefighter #volunteer #training #teambuilding #trust

Today, participants in Acres: Cultivating Equity in Black Agriculture began applying for National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDCHQ). Please help me celebrate these newly applied MBE members Brandon Gerrins, Niki Gerrins, Chris Muse, Brian Guidry, Tesha B. Guidry, NCET, Tonya Cryer, Tamu Green of Southern Region Minority Supplier Development Council. We are also celebrating Sam Cobb Farms. of Western Regional Minority Supplier Development Council (WRMSDC), an affiliate of NMSDC. I want to express my sincere gratitude to the dynamic certification team. Constance (CJ) Jones, MBA and Alyssa Wesley for their leadership and assistance. This program is working to close opportunity and wealth gaps for Black Farmers. A huge part of the certification process, that we often don't think about, is the anxiety that comes with gathering/uploading the documentation and what I like to call the "I don't know" questions found in the application. What we do, to remedy this, is provide support. Support is an equitable practice! Equity isn't limited to dollars. Dollars are important; however, support in accessing and managing this NEW acquired dollars/position/audience is equity in action. Strategic utilization of time and support level playing fields and that my dear LinkedIn friends grounds equity work! #equity #nmsdc #cargill #unfi #walmart #blackfarmers Jetheda Hernandez, Brandi W., Natalie Chantal McGrady, Valencia Cooper, Lori Rodriques (she, her, hers), Kristine Creveling, MPH, RD, Marc Winston, and Monique Carswell
