🌞 Enjoying the Hot Weather? Stay Mindful of Track Buckling! 🚄 As we all enjoy the warm weather and the heat (not complaining!), it's crucial to remain vigilant about the potential risk of track buckling under these conditions. Here’s an important reminder about the NR/L3/TRK7012 Network Rail standard/control document, which has been mandatory for Network Rail Infrastructure Limited and its contractors since 6 March 2021. To make it easier for everyone, we've highlighted the four most important points of this standard: 1. Purpose of the Standard: The standard provides procedures for identifying, recording, and managing sites requiring Critical Rail Temperature (CRT) to mitigate the risk of track buckling during activities that affect the track system. 2. Scope of Application: This standard applies to all projects and organizations involved in projects that change, renew, enhance, or remove Network Rail infrastructure assets. However, it does not apply to works undertaken by the maintenance organization. 3. Key Requirements: Identification of Stress Free Temperature (SFT) and Joint Closure Temperature (JCT) for use in CRT assessments. Conducting CRT assessments, which include identifying adjustment switches, rail section type, bearer/sleeper type, track geometry, and ensuring a compliant ballast profile. 4. Competency and Reporting: Competency assessment requirements for site assessors and CEMs. Deployment of CRT watchpersons. Reporting procedures for any buckles detected. By adhering to these guidelines, we can help ensure the safety and integrity of our rail infrastructure, even during the hottest days. Let's stay proactive and keep our tracks safe! At Track Civil Engineering Solutions LTD, we have trained and competent staff with the following CRT competencies: Track CRE Critical Rail Temperature (CRT) Management CRT Assessor Installation of speedboards (ESR / TSR) Hot Weather Watcher (Monitor Permanent Way Infrastructure) If we can be of assistance on any of the above services please do not hesitate to contact us on: [email protected] #RailSafety #TrackBuckling #Infrastructure #NetworkRail #SafetyStandards #Engineering #HotWeatherSafety #TrackCivilEngineeringSolutionsLTD #RailSafety #TrackBuckling #Infrastructure #NetworkRail #SafetyStandards #Engineering #HotWeatherSafety

Today's major programs are more ambitious than ever before, with clients more focused on achieving strategic, environmental, commercial, and social outcomes. However, it’s essential to rethink commercial models to turn these ambitions into reality. This recent article highlights the importance of aligning commercial and delivery models to enable the full potential of major programs’ intentions and ambitions. A notable example comes from California High Speed Rail, which, having taken the lessons from delivering its Design and Build civil packages, is procuring some of its Rail Systems packages (signalling, train control and traction power) as Progressive Design Build contracts.
