5 questions to our CEO Svenn Hanssen 🤓 July 1st marked Svenns first day as permanent CEO at Oceanbox. For more than 2 years he has juggled the position as CEO at Oceanbox with that of being CEO at €10m IT Service provider Serit Tromsø. But today marked his first working day concentrating 100 % on Oceanbox. Question 1: The obvious question is why did you want to leave a business that was delivering day-in-day-out results to join a start-up company like Oceanbox? 🤔 Svenn: The topic of new venture creation and entrepreneurship immediately caught my interest when we founded Oceanbox back in 2022. To be able to look at a business and even whole industries in a completely different way triggered my innovative and creative genes. To be at the center of a whirlwind of competencies melting together is just mindblowing. Question 2: What is it with Oceanbox that you find appealing? Svenn: Definitely the disruptive side of Oceanbox with regard to technology vs. market fit. To be able to deliver results in minutes rather than months makes it possible to examine the ocean in completely new ways at the same level of cost. In there lies the unknown which we are now able to uncover and make accessible to a lot of talented people. Question 3: Is Oceanbox mostly a service for aquaculture and salmon farming? 👀 Svenn: It is easy to match the interests of the aquaculture industry to Oceanbox since most of their valuable assets are placed inside the ocean and is dependent on what the ocean currents bring in and take out of the cages. But the services can be used in several other areas. Like research, education, analysis of spill and pollution from industry and society, and our forecasting service can be used to better plan for future activities to reduce environmental impact, cost and operational hazard. Question 4: Will there be a Oceanbox service targeted for the general public? Svenn: Yes, right from the start we saw the need for this service to be available for a range of leisure and sporting activities, like route planning for kayaking, sailing or fishing. Wouldn’t it be nice to plot your kayaking route beforehand and save your strength going with the currents rather than against them? This is something that’s still on the drawing board and requires a lot of compute power to deliver to a large audience. Question 5: Where do you see Oceanbox in 5 years? Svenn: In five years we will have a high-resolution 3D model of every ocean and fjord in every corner of the world available for everyone to look at; past, present and future. 🚀 And for them to do whichever analysis they would like to on those data, making them able to answer fundamental questions about the environment and the sustainability of the ocean. We already have this in place for Norway, and if we can do it here, we can do it everywhere! #Oceanintelligence #Oceanography #SaaS #Sustainability

Only a few Filipinos see agriculture as a lucrative business. Many are blinded by the age-old belief that there is a "lack of support from the government." The truth is, in-depth theoretical and experiential knowledge and honesty are the minimum you need to make a name for yourself and produce sound financial records in agribusiness. Take me as a case to prove this point. I have no friends. I have no political connections. I have no mentors. I am both the student and the teacher. I don't even like most humans more than I like most animals. My formal education is a thousand lightyears away from agriculture. I only have 500 square meters of land. The only thing that is unlimited in me is my unquenchable thirst for theoretical and experiential knowledge, as if it's the end of the world tonight. Yet, Alpha Agventure Farms can afford to send a boy to a prestigious school, all the way through college, with all expenses paid in advance. Your immediate reaction to this would be, "Then tell me how I can do the same!" I don't think it's a matter of step-by-step procedures but rather mindset. That's the key difference between me and most farmers. You already know WHAT I do and HOW I do them through the hundreds of videos and posts I publish on the social media channels of Alpha Agventure Farms. As long as you consider the government's effort as a significant variable in your equation for success in agriculture, you will not progress as impressively as the almost one-man show of Alpha Agventure Farms. Be intelligent, like a mad scientist, in cultural management, agri-marketing, and agri-economics, and your mind will become a magnet for customers. Alpha Agventure Farms doesn't look for customers. Customers look for Alpha Agventure Farms. I can see another evergreen thought bubble in your head as an objection to my point, "Jaycee, not everyone thinks like you." And that proves my point that mindset is the differentiator between a promising farmer and just another farmer. #AlphaMindset #AlphaAgventureFarms

My job is so cool. Today, along with my World Business Chicago colleagues, CEO Phil Clement and VP, Innovation & Venture Nicole McCarthy, as well as City of Chicago Deputy Mayor Kenya K. Merritt and Project Manager Maranda R., I got to tour Clever Carnivore's lab testing facility in #chicago. This startup is taking off like a rocket, having developed a process to grow cultivated meat products from animal cells. We got to be among less than 500 people in the whole country to taste the pork meatballs and brats, and I would put them up against the "real" thing any day. When I think of the massive global issues being addressed by their work, like lessening the environmental impact of meat production and increasing food security, I'm even more impressed. #chicagofoodinnovation #chicagobiotech

I mean whats knowledge and skills acquired without puting it into practice?.The beauty of skills gained is portrayed by what you can use that skill set for the choice really depends on the individual holding that skill set. Thats why as a firm believer of putting my skill set into practice turning them into a reality i mean there is no harm in trying. After much knowledge acquisition in the honey industry from well established companies that i have worked with along the way i decided to venture into this profound business myself. Bee hive mounting..... #bee farming #Agriprineurship #Girls in agriculture #Bee farmer #Start up

🚜 New Research Insight: What Drives Success for Finnish Family Farmers? 🌾 We are glad to share the forthcoming article in Agricultural and Food Science: "What Causes Finnish Family Farmers Feel Successful? The Role of Resources and Entrepreneurial Characteristics". This insightful study by Furkan Yigit, Leena Rantamäki-Lahtinen, and Timo Sipiläinen from the University of Helsinki explores the critical factors behind the success of family farmers in Finland. 🔍 Abstract Overview: This research delves into how resources and entrepreneurial characteristics influence perceived success among Finnish family farmers. By applying Resource-Based Theory and Entrepreneurial Orientation perspectives, the study offers a comprehensive understanding of success perceptions in family farms. Using survey data from 805 Finnish family farmers, the study employs confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modeling to reveal that: - Family farmers rate their skills and proactiveness highly. - Both resources and entrepreneurial orientation significantly impact perceived success, although the latter plays a relatively smaller role. - There is a positive co-variability between resources and entrepreneurial orientation, indicating a unified direction of change. These findings highlight the importance of both resources and entrepreneurial capabilities in fostering success in family farming, emphasizing the critical role of the family perspective in resource utilization and entrepreneurial activities. 📖 Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/dTewEssP #AgriculturalResearch #FamilyFarms #Entrepreneurship #ResourceUtilization #FarmSuccess #Finland #AFSci #UniversityOfHelsinki #FarmingInnovation #SustainableAgriculture #BorealAgriculture

🌱 Hello, everyone!!! 🚀 See what inspired me to post on LinkedIn after such a long time... This is my first post after almost seven months. Meet Ganesh, a forward-thinking farmer passionate about efficiency and safety on the farm. 👨🌾💡 Ganesh recently devised a brilliantly simple solution to tackle a common problem: doors staying open due to oversight, posing a risk to crops. 🌿🍀 His innovation? A clever mechanism that automatically closes doors after they are opened, ensuring that no door is left open inadvertently. 🚪⏰ By combining ingenuity with practicality, Ganesh has not only enhanced the safety and security of his crops but also inspired others in the agricultural community to think creatively about problem-solving. 🌾🔧 Here's to celebrating innovation in the most unexpected places! 🎉 Let's continue to learn from each other and drive progress forward. 💪 #creativity #FarmInnovation #cropprotection #SafetyFirst #ProblemSolving #Inspiration

Still basking in that post evokeAG glow? Us too. Western Australia certainly put on a show ☀️ 🙌 But Queensland – that other big agrifood producer on the opposite side of Australia – reckons they can do the next evokeAG even better. Like a proud parent, we love all our evokeAG hosts equally 😉 We couldn’t possibly pick a favourite. But Queensland has some distinct traits that are likely to flavour the challenges and opportunities we can expect to see showcased at the Brisbane event. Decentralisation of the agrifood system is one of them. Here, Queensland’s Chief Entrepreneur Julia Spicer OAM; Salvo Vitelli from Host State Partner, the Queensland Department of Agriculture and Fisheries (QDAF); and Philippe Ceulen from Brisbane-based agrifood tech VC, Mandalay Venture Partners, discuss what sets Queensland apart – and why they’re confident of claiming favoured child status 👉 https://bit.ly/3QitKZ0
More than just beaches and rainforests: why Queensland is the perfect host for evokeAG. 2025 - evokeAG.
