Congratulations to the Village of Groton, a recent recipient of the NY Forward Phase Two Program! Governor Kathy Hochul has announced $4.5 million has been awarded to enhance and revitalize public-private partnerships. This global competition brings in unique, high-growth businesses and immerses them in the region's thriving startup environment. Recently Heather D. McDaniel, CEcD, AICP, EDFP, Danielle Szabo, and Kellea Bauda took a trip to the NYS Economic Development Council (NYSEDC) Conference in Albany, where they joined over 400 attendees. Together, they participated in in-depth conversations regarding the promising landscape of clean energy manufacturing in New York. The discussions focused on leveraging state incentives to develop sites, attract projects, invest in supply chain resources, and cultivate a skilled workforce. Heather has been a member of NYSEDC’s Board of Directors since 2019.

Today is the official first day of spring and we are particularly grateful for the ongoing renovation of the Stewart Park Splash Pad, which will feature a splash pad that is 50% larger than the current structure along the Cayuga Waterfront Trail. Funding support was provided by Parks and the Tompkins County Tourism Program’s Tourism Capital Grants program, which is administered by IAED. Menlo Micro Micron Technology represent opportunity for Ithaca's manufacturing workforce to grow Menlo Micro announced in July an over $50 million investment to open a fabrication facility at 36 Thornwood Drive in the village of Lansing, just north of the city of Ithaca. The company is preparing to begin manufacturing in Lansing this year, already having invested about $26 million in the site that formerly housed Kionix Inc., which manufactured micromachines and sensors. Ithaca Area Economic Development staff estimate that the 120 projected positions at Menlo Micro’s Lansing Facility could create $18 million in direct wages and $28 million in direct spending in Tompkins County over the next three years. To create this level of economic growth for the area, local lawmakers and officials must pave the way for amenities such as natural gas at the site, and ready a workforce to man manufacturing equipment in positions ranging from entry-level to those requiring years of experience. https://lnkd.in/gb8gDT8f
