No. 1 move I'd suggest if I were advising an entry-level hire in my industry on how to build long-term success: Find where veterans in your industry are active online. Learn from and engage with them. Create your own content. 99% of people at your level won't do this. Most won't ever do it; some will start much later. Audiences, reputation, and relationships compound over time. If you start doing this — thoughtfully — at 22, you'll be a star by 30. And if you didn't do this, it's not too late. The best time to start is now.

I quit ! That is what I found while reading a post yesterday of one of my connections. He was in a certain industry, working to improve his skills and building projects for that for almost 2 years. Worked hard made 13 big projects. But what did he achieve ? Nothing - according to him. What he told - Market is more rougher than before. Layoffs everywhere in his industry. Biggest creators also going through bad phases. Earning money is also important and just not creating projects. But I think he achieved a lot in that two years, Did what he loved ! But what he did not do was building genuine connections I suppose. Sometimes it feels like Linkedin is not for beginners How did being on Linkedin helped him ? Nothing ! Nobody helped him in his rough phase of life. So called professionals, did / do not reach out to help anyone struggling. So it made me think is being on Linkedin worth it ? This situation also deepened the need of creating a Personal Brand. What are your thoughts on this matter ? Content community – what do you feel when you hear that phrase? My heart is heating up, not just getting warmer. Over the years, I've met so many dedicated, caring, and astonishing people that it's almost impossible to count. Content events used to be and always are special beyond time and space bubbles. Now imagine receiving an email that starts: "I’m Kristina Halvorson, executive producer for Button" followed by a statement that something's happening to the conference. Wouldn't your heart stop or at least miss a beat? Mine did. Especially since I'm not done mourning the shutdown of Confab (and a few other events). Then you read "due to layoffs, lower salaries, and limited (or no) training budgets—this year’s ticket prices are simply out of reach" – wait for it – the iconic conference is getting LOWER ticket prices. 🤩 Does that prove my point? Content people, and the community we create, are unicorns that overpower you with the demonstration of what it means to be human. Seek support from coaches and experienced professionals. You'll still make mistakes and learn from them, but you'll save time and energy by taking the shortcuts they offer.
