In the first part of this session, we will become acquainted with what ethical leadership entails and discuss three sets of decision-making skills ethical leaders can apply when faced with organizational challenges, whether they are systems-based or interpersonal.
In the panel, we will do a deep dive into the various components that make up purpose, and our three amazing panelists will discuss through their own experiences how their personal sense of purpose relates to the shaping of their professional identity and how they lead their respective organizations.
It’s going to be a great session.

Did you know that in 2022, tragically, over 49,000 lives were lost to suicide? Shockingly, a significant number were individuals aged 25-44, predominantly of Caucasian descent. This includes my father, a retired police sergeant, who, like over 50% of others, used a firearm to end his life.
While there are interventions, therapies, and medications that can help prevent suicide, it's time we shift our focus. Let's open up conversations about adverse childhood experiences, the crucial nature of healthy caregiver attachment during infancy, and the traumas that precede joining professions like law enforcement.
Do we need to emphasize the importance of discussing well-being, fostering healthy connections with peers, family, and spirituality, or reaching out to 988? Of course! As you share your present struggles, also bravely recount the challenges you have overcome in the past, no matter how many years have elapsed. As a suicide loss survivor, I strongly believe that together, through open dialogue and understanding, we can strive to prevent such heartbreaking losses. Jason M. Palamara and I are grateful to Dianne Bernhard for contributing to our new book, Living Blue.

Dianne Bernhard is the Executive Director of the Concerns of Police Survivors organization and responsible for fulfilling their mission, providing leadership, overseeing the functions of the organization, strategizing for future growth, and operating C.O.P.S under the direction of the National Board.
What Dianne is most however, is an amazing human who has cared for our Nation’s heroes in such an impactful way through the work she does. Before her role at C.O.P.S, Dianne was a Deputy Chief for the Columbia Missouri Police Department and uses her years of experience and leadership to show up for officers and their families when they need it most.
I had the privilege of speaking at the C.O.P.S National Conference in Dallas last year and saw firsthand what an impact her work is having on the law-enforcement profession.
Barbara Rubel, Compassion Fatigue Speaker and I are excited to have Dianne’s words inside of the End of Watch chapter of our book, Living Blue: Helping Law Enforcement Officers and Their Families Survive and Thrive from Recruitment to Retirement, to share with you all.
Today, CRG had the incredible opportunity to be at the heart of democracy – the Georgia Capitol. We sat in on the House of Representatives floor session and engaged in insightful discussions at the Public Safety and Homeland Security committee meetings. 🏛️✨ Our presence matters, and as young Black folx, we are not just the future, but active contributors to shaping it. Let's continue to be the voices that drive positive change! 🙌🏽🔗 #GeorgiaLegislature#CivicEngagement#YoungLeaders#FutureLeaders#BeTheChange"
These awards are so important as we help shine a light on the outstanding work being done inside our justice system every day.
There are challenges, and they are big ones, but these awards help show the good that's being done despite them.
Please help spread the word so we can share the stories of those making all the difference to the system.

I’m excited to share that I will soon be joining Medical Teams International to serve as President & CEO.
Fundamental to even the notion of “human rights” is the deeper truth of equality—that all humans, simply because they are human, are entitled to certain basic rights. Not because of what they have done, or the color of their skin, or where they live. Simply and only because of who they are—human.
Likewise, a core tenet of my faith is that every human is divinely created, made in the image of their Creator. The vast diversity of humankind is itself a reflection of the vastness of God. And because of this, every human, as an image bearer of God, is of eternal significance and worth. Every single one.
We live in an age where the competition for our eyes, our hearts, and our minds is unrelenting. So if you are anything like me, it is easy to forget in the swirl of news feeds and stories the very brutal reality faced by millions of humans. Over 120M humans have been forcibly displaced from their homes because of war, persecution, violence, and natural disasters. That figure has been increasing every year for well over a decade. Over 120M humans who find themselves stateless, homeless, often pushed into the most remote and isolated areas where they can so quickly be forgotten.
I am honored to be given the opportunity to lead an organization that, for nearly 50 years, has not forgotten. Medical Teams goes the literal last mile to draw near to millions of suffering and vulnerable humans, providing world-class and life-saving care to the whole person, honoring their humanity, equality, and dignity. With over 2,500 staff and a vast network of volunteers and partners around the world, Medical Teams provides direct care and services to over 4M humans a year.
As I embark on this transition, I am filled with deep gratitude, especially for the place I am leaving. IJM has been a foundational part of my life for over 20 years, and my employer for almost 11 years. My experiences with and at IJM have shaped me deeply, both personally and professionally. While it’s hard to leave such a special place, I feel a great sense of peace and excitement for the future, and I am eager to lead Medical Teams into its next chapter!
We are thrilled to introduce Eric Ha as the new President & CEO of Medical Teams International!

While most Americans recognize July 4th as "Independence Day," Juneteenth is equally important for America and even more important to many Black Americans. Read the following to learn more about Juneteenth and WHY it is so important!

Many thanks to Nixon Peabody LLP for organizing an important firmwide discussion today on Jewish Identity and Antisemitism in the 21st Century.
The program, presented by the American Jewish Committee (AJC), was thought-provoking and informative. I was pleased to have participated from our Los Angeles Office, where AJC’s Richard Hirschhaut and Francine Lis joined us.
It’s unfortunate that we need to continue these conversations — but we do. I appreciate our firm leaders stepping up to tackle this crucial issue.

I imagine a USA where race no longer predicts outcomes.
🎯 Baltimore Mayor Brandon M. Scott Nails IT! 🎯
The assault on DEI is really an assault on
➡ D Duly
➡ E Elected
➡ I Incumbents -
(Black people and "others" who exercise their rightful place in a democratic republic to represent the people)
and, by extension,
the right of any Black person to enjoy the rights and privileges of citizenship in an aspirational United States of America where race no longer predicts outcomes.
Blackness (which doesn't know its place) triggers whiteness since whiteness presumes a plantation white entitlement to control the location of its property.
This is the 🌟 Presumption of Whereabouts Authority 🌟 as I teach in #12swa Twelve Steps for White America.
PWA illustrates a commodification of Blackness as a means to sustain the profit of rigged advantage. (Think carceral state from fugitive slave patrols to for-profit prisons, Karens, and minority rule including electoral college, senate, SCOTUS).
To the colonized and conditioned white mind, when this happens, it triggers a threat to the existence of whiteness itself, since whiteness was and remains a colonial American construction (an inclusion-collusion-delusion) to sustain rigged advantage, which can only persist through white supremacy and anti-Blackness.
🙏🏼 Mayor Scott's teaching here can lead to truth reconciliation and renewal.

Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott hit back at the racist right wing attacks against him following the Key Bridge collapse for “having the nerve to be Black and also a mayor.”
“What they mean by DEI, in my opinion, is duly elected incumbent.” 🔥🔥🔥
Mayor Scott did not mince any words and I’m here for it ✊🏾
