🌟 What an Amazing Conference Experience! 🌟 I recently had the honor of attending a fantastic conference that was both enlightening and a lot of fun! On September 25 and 26th I was in Hamilton for the Ontario Young Leaders 2024 Emerge Conference. Thank you so much to First West Credit Union for your sponsorship and investment in my development! Michelle Manary’s talk got me thinking hard about the future of Credit Unions and my place within the system. She posed the question "Why do I exist?" to all of us, garnering thought and discussion about our place in the world both professionally and personally. Our interactive networking session presented by Credit Union Leaders Association (CULA) was a blast! We developed and then practiced our elevator pitches through a scavenger hunt. It was such an engaging way to refine my pitch, and I feel more confident than ever. I just need to nail that final invitation to connect! Dr. Caroline Brookfield, DVM’s session was a real eye-opener. She highlighted the importance of being comfortable with ambiguity to support change. It was fascinating to explore how different people experience ambiguity and how I can use this understanding to lead with empathy. Moving forward, I’m excited to embrace ambiguity as a strategy for empathetic leadership, ensuring I support those who might find it more challenging. The panel discussions on growing within the Credit Union system, and embracing change brought tremendous insight from leaders within the Credit Union system, and the Human Library was a wonderful opportunity to engage directly with engaging leaders within the cooperative network as a whole. One of my key takeaways from the conference is the importance of leaning into cooperative values as I grow. The coming decade will bring extreme changes for credit unions, and our success will hinge on what we do differently from the big banks, not what we emulate from them. People can do their banking anywhere, but we make a difference in our communities that goes beyond banking, and that is where we will win. Feeling inspired, energized, and ready to apply these learnings in my professional and personal life! #ONYLEmerge2024 #ProfessionalDevelopment #Leadership #Empathy #ConferenceFun #ElevatorPitch #Wellbeing

What a week it has been!! Coming back from holidays with a couple of jet lagged kids that kept us up all night, I had to jump right back into it. Kicking off with a keynote for more than 💥300💥 employees from the European Central Bank on the topic: 𝑊ℎ𝑦 𝑎𝑟𝑒 𝑤𝑒 𝑠𝑜 𝑐𝑜𝑛𝑓𝑢𝑠𝑒𝑑 𝑎𝑏𝑜𝑢𝑡 𝑟𝑎𝑐𝑖𝑠𝑚? It was amazing to see the engagement that Silke Heinrichs, Teodora Atskova, Carolina Martinho Simões and Bianca Peresani were able to generate on this important topic. The session was opened by board member Elizabeth McCaul with a very personal and vulnerable message that set the tone for a real discussion. 🙏🏾 Next up, London! I had the pleasure of being invited by Argon & Co to deliver a keynote for their Connected network, where they brought together 40 business leaders from across their client base. The topic: 𝑆𝑡𝑎𝑦𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑓𝑢𝑡𝑢𝑟𝑒 𝑝𝑟𝑜𝑜𝑓 𝑏𝑦 𝑢𝑛𝑙𝑜𝑐𝑘𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑝𝑜𝑡𝑒𝑛𝑡𝑖𝑎𝑙 𝑜𝑓 𝑒𝑡ℎ𝑛𝑖𝑐 𝑡𝑎𝑙𝑒𝑛𝑡 I love speaking to business leaders and address their reservations and concerns around the topic directly. Thanks to Chris Boryer MBE, Sousana Ruokonen (née Chrysanthou), Jennifer Dittrich and Isobel Forbes for putting together an amazing event and creating a safe space for leaders to ask the REAL questions. Special shoutout to Cat Brownlie for supporting Melvin Spalburg and myself since the start and kicking off this collaboration! Last but definitely not least: This week was selection week for the 𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬 programme, where we had 10 fully sponsored seats up for grabs for the top ethnic talent in the industry. We received so many strong applications, so coming to a final selection was a hard task. I am sooo excited to kickoff the programme with this amazing cohort!! I thought I was working hard in banking, but building ROOTS INSPIRE has been extremely hard work. But seeing the results and the impact we are making is extremely rewarding. My energy levels are up!! 🔥🔥🔥 Whose with me?? #YourRootsInspire #Leadership #TalentManagement
