While visiting New York for the New York Toy Fair, I had the opportunity to join our local Long Island City Office, which hosted a Field Day to encourage team building and collaboration. During this fun-filled day, I asked our very own Toy Industry Legend, Randy Klimpert, who leads Design out of our Long Island City office for Games, Plush and Outdoor, to share some words about his Creative Process. We were blown away by Randy's incredible insights into Developing Creative Habits. During this talk, Randy shared that Improv is Raw Creativity - he took Improv classes early in his career to help build his presentation skills and help him think quickly on his feet. Randy walked us through the Rules of Improv, which are similar to the Creative Process: Stay real Stay in the moment Never say no No idea is a bad idea Say yes, and…. That was such a cool video. It looked like an inspiring event Anton Rabie. Creativity habits are underutilized. They are powerful... no matter what type of work you do. Taking the time to regularly make 'friends' with your inner critic makes it less of a big deal to take a risk, make a mistake, laugh at yourself... and help others to do this too. Keep it going and then guess what... you'll find you (regularly) create the occasional gem. And you'll discover how fun this can be to return to a sense of play.
