The aftermath of having a seizure is sometimes described as experiencing post-workout pains and can cause sufferers to feel muscle aches. So, to replicate that feeling, we are challenging you to participate in our “100 miles to stop 100 seizures” campaign. Take on the challenge of completing 100 miles on foot or by cycling over a two months period. You can participate individually or as a team by recording your progress through an app. Set up a fundraising page and encourage friends, family, and colleagues to sponsor your efforts. Together, we can stop 100 seizures and create a brighter future for children with intractable epilepsy. #PurpleDay2024 #epilepsy #intractableepilepsy #100milestostop100seizures #medicinalcannabis #TeamIntractable https://lnkd.in/dxBxqhn3

Join IDA Ambassador, Lauren's Team or Pledge her walk! Participate anytime, anywhere in May! #IDAAmbassador #InvisibleDisabilities #idwalkandroll Posted @withregram • @laurensaysyay May is Mobility Awareness Month, and only one week away! Lots of time to join my Yay Team supporting the @invisibledisabilities Association’s 2nd annual Walk and Roll 💃🏽 Many of you know I live with Central Core Disease, a rare neuromuscular disorder and invisible disability. Some of the mitochondria from my muscle cells is missing, so my muscles struggle to convert energy into strength, making a lot of everyday things harder for me. I have about a third of the strength of the average person. But look at all those shoes (with me in them) go! To support the Walk and Roll and raise awareness for invisible disabilities, I’ve decided to walk 85,000 steps in May (up from 74,000 last year). This year I’m running a team (The Yay Team!) for the fundraiser, and I’d love to have YOU join and raise awareness too! You can walk, roll, or any kind of movement you want, for as many steps/distance as you choose, either throughout the month or in a single event. How you participate is totally up to you, and is a great opportunity to share how your life has been touched by your own or someone else’s invisible disability. Join the Yay Team or support my participant page - 🔗 in my bio! - #invisibledisability #invsibledisabilityawareness #disability #disabilityawareness #mobilityawareness #mobilityawarenessmonth #chronicillness #chronicillnessawareness #centralcoredisease #RYR1 #chronicallyfabulous #chronicloveclub #spoonie #spoonielife #inspirationalspeaker #fundraiser #yay

What a day we lived on March the 10th 👁️Raising awareness about Usher syndrome is crucial: a condition that silences the earliest sounds of life and disrupts babies' balance as it dims and deteriorates their vision during childhood. 🚀At Save Sight Now Europe, we believe it's our responsibility, as an affected family, to work towards paving the way for a potential treatment. This is a cause that has become near and dear to my heart. Last March our daughter was diagnosed with Juvenile Myoclonic Epilepsy. For 11 years are daughter was a healthy thriving girl and then in one afternoon that all changed. She suffered a seizure that came out of nowhere. It was the single most terrifying experience of my life. I was there to witness my daughter jolt back and forth like electricity was running through her body. I sat in the ambulance with her trying to let her know everything would be alright as my leg was shaking uncontrollably because I couldn't process what had just happened. The weeks that followed were scary and mind-boggling. There was the diagnosis, which was devastating, but then to be told that they didn't know why this happened, and that we may never know. Thank god for my husband to make sense of the doctor visits and tests that followed. We were then told that this was a condition that she would most likely live with for the rest of her life and that these seizures weren't always predictable. My beautiful smart girl who I helicopter parented all of her life already, was now at risk of seizures without much warning and I didn't know how I would ever leave her side. We went about our life providing her medicine, but not wanting to think we would ever experience another seizure, until the next one. This January she had her second seizure. That was the experience that changed everything for us. We now know that there are triggers, there are signs and there are things we can do try to stave off seizures. Our lives are now run on schedules and routines that we dare not deviate from. We monitor and ensure that we don't miss dosages of medicine, make sure she is rested, attempt to manage her stress...the list goes on. We still don't know all there is to know about this thing. But, we are doing our due diligence to learn and provide her with the most regular lifestyle we can. I can finally talk about it. That is why I am creating this post. I want more people to be aware and begin accepting that this is more common than you might think. Take a minute to educate yourself and keep my kid in mind. She is doing well and we are managing as a family because that is what we do. Education is power. We will learn to live with this and she will thrive, I know it.
Epilepsy is a neurological disorder that affects millions of people globally each year. If you have epilepsy, surges of electrical activity in your brain can cause recurring seizures. As part of our commitment to making a difference, Coash Court Reporting and Video is proud to announce that our office will be participating in the "Walk to End Epilepsy" charity event on March 30th, 2024 to show support for someone we hold dear at our office and for the millions of others affected worldwide. Together, we can make a difference and show our support for individuals we know personally, as well as the countless others who bravely navigate life with this condition. #WalkToEndEpilepsy #raiseawareness #raisedonations #ShowSupport #InternationalEpilepsyDay

Today is International Epilepsy Day! Many of you may not know, but epilepsy is a part of my journey. Epilepsy is a neurological disorder that affects people regardless of age, race, or gender. 1 in 10 individuals will experience a seizure, and 1 in 26 will develop epilepsy in their lifetime. My personal encounter with epilepsy came after a near-death experience in my 20s, bringing forth simple partial and complex partial seizures, different from the stereotypical "grand mal" seizures. It was a perplexing journey navigating from one doctor's office to another, seeking answers to those peculiar sensations. Understanding and responding to seizures are paramount. Epilepsy Foundation extends a free seizure first aid program to enlighten the public. If you're curious, I encourage you to explore further. In my commitment to raise awareness about epilepsy and empower more individuals to assist those with epilepsy, I'm assembling a team for the Epilepsy Walk Los Angeles on April 28th at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. You can contribute to The Epilepsy Foundation in various ways: 💜 Contributing to the cause 💜 Assisting Team Renov8 in fundraising efforts 💜 Joining Team Renov8 in the walk if you're local to Los Angeles This cause resonates deeply with me, and your support in spreading awareness and securing funds for this vital cause means the world to me. Please drop a comment below to let me know how you'd like to contribute, and I'll provide further details. Thank you! 🙏 #renov8fitness #HeatherBinns #HeatherCPT #FindYourAthleteWithin #Renov8TheBody #Renov8TheMind #epilepsy #seizures #seizuresawareness #epilepsyawareness #walk #teamrenov8 #charity #contribute #goodcause

Day 21 of Brain and Alzheimer's Awareness Month! All this month, I will post a quick and simple mini-challenge to give your brain a QUICK WIN! Today’s challenge is to share your gifts with the world…volunteer! In addition to just feeling good, volunteering has been shown to increase lifespan and stave off dementia and Alzheimer’s…especially in retired people. Volunteering can get you physically, mentally, and socially engaged, relieve stress, and (perhaps most importantly) make you feel like you are contributing to a greater cause. Contributing to a meaningful cause can help you fight Cognitive Enemies by increasing your brain reserves and resilience, as well as boosting your memory and executive function (or mental “skills”). The more you do it, the more benefit your brain will gain! For today’s challenge, get a date on your calendar for a cause you already work with OR commit to joining one of the many available opportunities. Most people “have been meaning to ____ ” when it comes to volunteering anyway, so today is the day…for the sake of your brain health!
