Today is Epilepsy Awareness Day, in which we proudly wear purple! Our founder and managing partner, Dana Paterson, is our very own epilepsy warrior. His journey with cannabis and hemp, particularly CBD, began in 2008 when he was diagnosed with Adult Onset Epilepsy, at the age of 23. Throughout the years, Dana has tirelessly advocated for those living with epilepsy, spreading awareness, sharing knowledge, and offering relentless encouragement. But Dana's story is more than just a personal battle; it's a beacon of hope and a testament to the power of resilience, innovation, and community. His pioneering efforts in the CBD industry have not only aided in managing his own condition but have also paved the way for groundbreaking research and development, offering a glimmer of hope to countless others facing similar challenges. NEW CASE STUDY RELEASE: Autism, Depression and Anxiety Chad, a 19-year-old autistic male, seeks supports to help him manage his meltdowns and secondary anxiety and depression. Despite already implementing a wide range of supports and medications to alleviate his distress and manage his aggressive behaviour, Chad's mother Linda, is looking to medical cannabis to supplement his current plan. In this case study, we explore how Chad's team prescribed a combination of medical cannabis products to address Chad's distress and improve his quality of life. Today I woke up and the day started like any other day: breakfast, shower, and the usual route to Angelini. What if I had Epilepsy? Would my day, or rather my days, start so calmly? Would I be able to make my breakfast autonomously and could I drive my car? Maybe not…  26th March- Purple Day 💜 , a day dedicated to raising awareness about epilepsy. When "we put ourselves in the shoes" of those who suffer from this disease, we realize the challenges they face every day. "A second California Senate committee has approved a bill to legalize psychedelic service centers where adults 21 and older could access psilocybin, MDMA, mescaline and DMT in a supervised environment with trained facilitators. About a week after an initial panel cleared the legislation, the Senate Public Safety Committee passed the measure from Sen. Scott Wiener (D) in a 3-2 vote on Tuesday. It next heads to the Appropriations Committee. The “Regulated Therapeutic Access to Psychedelics Act” has been drafted in a way that’s meant to be responsive to concerns voiced by Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) last year when he vetoed a broader proposal that included provisions to legalize low-level possession of substances such as psilocybin.Instead, the new bill that’s now being unveiled would provide regulated access to psychedelics in a facilitated setting, without removing criminal penalties for possession outside of that context. It does not lay out any specific qualifying medical conditions that a person must have in order to access the services. The measure had already undergone a series of mostly technical amendments before reaching committee. Wiener also agreed to revise the legislation at last week’s hearing to make it so psychedelics facilitators would need to have an existing professional health license, such as those for psychiatrists, social workers, drug and alcohol counselors and nurse practitioners." Lets just have a think about how ridiculous this is… Albert Hoffman who microdosed LSD, was still giving lectures up until his death, aged of 102 (I don’t think he died at the podium) The BBC article reports on the first drug to slow early-stage Alzheimer’s progression, lecanemab, highlighting that it will not be available on the NHS in England due to cost concerns. While licensed for use in Great Britain, NICE deemed the benefits “too small to justify the costs” in draft guidance. Lecanemab slowed cognitive decline by about 25% over 18 months in trials. However, NICE cited significant costs including intensive monitoring and frequent hospital visits as reasons for rejection. Alzheimer’s Research UK called it a “bittersweet moment,” expressing disappointment at the NHS decision despite the drug’s milestone approval. NICE emphasized it could only recommend treatments offering good taxpayer value. Refering back to Hoffman, who microdosed LSD (a very similar molecule to psilocybin) and still gave lectures till the age of 102 If the law changed, the UK could lead the way in research looking into the neuroplastic properties that psilocybin has, that may help with neurodegenerative diseases like Alzhiemer’s and dementia. “House members recently approved the Senate measure, that seeks to set up an eight-person psychedelic-assisted therapy working group, with amendments. Vermont Senators gave the green light to the revised language of the bill on Friday, approving changes previously made in the state House of Representatives. The bill, S.114, from Sen. I love that publications like Lucid News are talking about psychedelic care for end of life! In an Opinion article, David Pepper, MD and Family Physician, has seen hundreds of people die. He also knows how cannabis and psychedelic medicines can help some people die a more peaceful death while living more fully in the present.
