As designers, it's tempting to showcase all your work in your portfolio 🎨. But remember, hiring managers usually spend very little time reviewing CVs—on average, just 6-7 seconds ⏳. In the architecture industry, you might get a few more seconds, but it’s still brief. That’s why I recommend making your portfolio a *curated* sample of your best work, which you can dive into during the interview 💼. Here are some tips for creating an impactful sample portfolio: - Select 3-4 of your strongest projects 💡. - Dedicate 3-4 pages per project, ideally arranged in chronological order 📄. - Highlight a range of skills—especially in interior design—by including technical drawings, 3D renders, mood boards, FF&E schedules, and polished final photographs 🛋️. - Keep your sample portfolio concise, ideally no more than 30 pages 📚.
